Thread tape

Well I found where my '86 TC was leaking oil, kind of. It was a slow stream comming from the oil distribution block, so it's one of three places.

I pulled off the turbo oil line and didn't notice anything wierd, but when I pulled the sending unit I noticed it wasn't very tight and it had thread tape on it (I pulled a spare and it did not).

So...would it be a bad idea to use thread tape?

And- has anyone ever heard of the turbo oil line going bad?

you should use some kind of sealant on it, we forgot to on my dads tc return line, burns about a quart a day now

thread tape never hurts on NPT fittings, And yes the factory line is pr0ne to cracking.

I would second the suggestion of a sealant rather than tape, but I have used tape when I had to.

Use Loctite PST. It's pipe thread sealant. It comes in a small white tube. It works great and never leaks.
