I am selling my 1987 Turbo Coupe, times getting tough! I have gone through the car and re stored almost anything I could find (and THANKS to the help I got from this forum!). I am the 3rd owner (first two same family) I have the car fax equiv. and an inspection when I purchased the car and inspections are welcome, in fact the description/pics don't do it credit. It has 106,000 miles on it, every option and all power including sunroof and everything now works! Cloth interior, full power, lumbar and bolster on both front seats in excellent condition. Less than one year old is... oil pressure sending unit temp. sending unit ball joints outer tire rods brakes and tires I am asking $ 5500 which is negotiable Location: Lakeland, Florida
I have a idle issue, sometimes it starts climbing and gets to 2000 rpm or more and sometimes will not come back down till I shut the car off and re start, then back to 1000rpm, I have tried another IAC, and replaced the temp sending unit thinking it was sending the wrong temp to the ECM causing the problem, seems to be more stable now that the temp sending unit was changed but still revs up, TPS checks at about 0.92v and stays there when the engine is doing it's rev thing. Removed the TB and intake and cleaned and looked over, it all looks good, cap, rotor, wires and plugs are in good condition and when the idle is steady it's good and steady and smooth, just every now and then will start climbing and sometimes comes down by it's self and other time does not seem to want to and sometimes I can rev it up over 3000 rpm and it will settle down, nothing constant to try to narrow this down, I would think a vaspoogee leak would be more constant, could it be a mis reading 02 sensor? can I remove and clean the 02 sensor?....or anyone have any ideas?
In my 87 TC the small Courtsey lights in the back don't work, I tried new bulbs in both, still don't work, it appears they have no power...are they on a seperate fuze or something (I would not think so...but)...the auto headlights did not work when I got the car and it was just unplugged at the dash switch so I wonder if this was unplugged somewhere....anyone have any ideas?
I have a 87 TC auto with climate control and have a sensor that is a in-line sensor in the metal coolant line that goes to the heater core and the wire harness that hooks to it goes through the firewall inside the car, like where the heater core is....what is this sensor, it's not the coolant temp. sensor like I thought and the parts houses can't figure it out.
The sunroof works well for it's age and doesn't seem to leak water like after a rain, but with windows up and air on you can hear a wind sound from the sun roof, diffently leaking out air...is there a fix?
Mine has the premium sound system, EQ and all, just the reception sounds fuzzy, it's not the speakers, replaced them, it almost picks up as well with antenna down, but you can tell a difference with it up, sometimes the signal is good and it sounds real good, but most of the time it sounds like week signal, is there anything that can be done to help this?
The car wonders on the road, I have replaced the sway bar bushings and that seemed to help, it doesn't do it as bad, I still have something squeaking up front, sounds like a rubber squeak, maybe what is causing it to wonder on the road?
The rear ebrakes were sticking, cable froze, removed cable (and I am soaking cable) replaced rear pads, did not remove/turn rotors, blead system, rears calipers appear to be moving and working while up on jack stands, when driving and light braking all sounds ok, but under semi hard braking I hear what sounds like a grinding noise from the rear, pulled off the wheels, all looked good...any ideas?
The car squeaks...looks like most of the rubber drive parts are pretty old, dry and cracking to some degree, the steering and ride are pretty tight, so don't think I need to be replacing things, just get them lubed again, I have been spraying them with silicon spray and it has been helping, is there anything better to use?
The A/C has been converted to 134 but has a leak, I was told the A/C was fine up till I bought the car but does not blow cold right now, the local parts store suggested the "old system with stop leak" for systems with over 100k, the parts people said it might not fix the leak permantly but would not harm the system, I have never used or known someone who used this, I don't have money to spare in this economy, my job is way off and I probably will not keep the car forever...what do you think?
One of the ebrake cable is froze, it is not broke, I can move it with a vise and claw hammer, what can I soak it in to free it up or how do you free one of these up?
