Suspension/Steering / Re: Poking help
1.Swap to new front wheels with same offset, but not as wide, like an 8".
2. Swap to new front wheels that have same width, but more positive offset, but first check inside clearance between rim and strut, rim and front control arm at full steering lock.
3. Keep all existing wheels, swap to shorter front control arms, bringing spindle inboard approx 3/4", ie Fox Mustang which is 13" from centerline of mounting bolts at Kmember to centerline of balljoint, whereas 87/8 Tbird and SN95 Mustang use basically same 13 3/4" spec control arm. This mod WILL create an undesirable positive camber condition UNLESS you elongate one of the strut mounting holes at the spindle OR elongate the upper strut mount holes at the top of the strut tower and use the MM tbird caster/camber plates. If you do the proper mods, you can regain adjustability back to desirable negative camber of between 1 and 2 degrees...but probably not a whole lot more than that.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / Re: Heater Hose Fitting for 5.0 CFI Intake Manifold
Edit to add:. The one I have has the sensor straight up coming out of the top. Took a pic but had forgotten this site requires a URL to upload pics, which I'm not doing, so sorry no pic.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 1985 Anniv parts cars
Selling 2 complete1985 birds, both are anniversary cars, neither are running, have titles, rough shape but not wrecked, good parts cars or restore them. Both for $500, come get them, they are located close to Gainesville, FL.
ETA: I had forgotten but there is a complete 88 TC rear axle with the factory posi 3.73 and disc brakes on it that can go with the cars. It has the e brake cables and the control arms/quad shocks still all attached. Also have the complete front brakes and control arm assemblies. They have new hawk pads, new powerslot front rotors, new wheel bearings and new Moog ball joints already installed. It all goes with the cars. That's probably $700-800 worth of rear axle and brake hardware stuff for whoever gets it

LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / Need any parts? '84 Cougar in local junkyard
First foxbody anything I've seen in a yard in a long time.
Sorry I accidentally deleted the 5 pics I took of it.
Nothing special about it, not an XR7, not a vent window car, just a 3.8l average option and trim vehicle. It does have good front fenders, good, header panel/grille/headlight trim. Tail lights good, trunk panel had a bit of rust. Interior is there, bit rough, but mostly original.
Let me know soon if u need something, the vehicles only have a 2 or 3 wk lifespan before being cycled out.

Engine Tech / Re: Charcoal canister routing diagram
From there, the hose routes between the distrib and intake on its way to the forward side of the passenger valvecover. Here, the hose goes to a small, computer controlled, flow/interupt solenoid. Then, from this location behind the alternator, the hose continues down along the passenger framerail to the charcoal cannister.
Often, the hose will get brittle or fall apart due to age/heat at the intake fitting. I've seen a lot of rubber hose caps clamped over that fitting over the course of removing upper intakes from 5L Fords over the years.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Re: need a seating solution
And I think I paid 40 bucks for the pair at a swap meet, although I don't think the salvage yards would charge much more as long as you take them without the sn95 seat tracks which you can't use anyhow. They want like 15 bucks per side for seat tracks at the yards I have hit.
Skip the leather, Ford's leather has been, still is, and apparently always will be... junk. Get cloth ones and make sure you keep the seat track bolts if you are taking the sn95 tracks off.

Lounge / Re: covid in my household..
Some people are taking the Ivermectin pills with good reports if they are already have it, some are taking to lessen the worst symptoms if they do get it.
Everyone in our home and our neighborhood has managed to stay healthy all this time, very grateful for that.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / Re: 88 Cougar Looking for New Home
Someone from the site would probably buy it.. but unless they happen to live in Boston or Mass also, 2 days isnt enough time for them to get there and get it done.
I'm in FL, so about as far as I can be, but someone close should pick it up to either save or part out.. It'll just get the convertors taken, and sent straight to be crushed if anyone else grabs it.

Drivetrain Tech / Re: Axle swap
vintage it seems that my door sticker is very similar to yours. Definitely have the same axle codes
Yeah, you might have the 8.8 axle since your build date is getting close to mid-1988. If you dont have time right now to jack it up and look to make sure, then turn on the flash for the camera on your cell phone and lay down next to the back tire and take a pic of the diff cover. 8.8 has 4 straight sides, the 7.5 has curved sides on left and right.
