LEADS on T-Bird/Cougar Stuff For Sale / 66 Tbird fs and XK8
Yeah, Ik its not a fox but its a Tbird and its a freakin 66 and its suhweet. Been sitting there for a long time so I figured I'd throw it up on here. I know some of you guys are classic bird fans. I have no idea what he wants for it... If you're interested you'll have to call the number.

I tried to get the inside but the sun was really shining that day. From what I saw though it looked very nice.

Also there was a Jaguar sitting next to it and I know there are a few Jaguar fans around here too...

Body/Appearance/Interior / underdash insulation...
Ok, so I got some insulation but now I don't know how to install it. I can't figure out how to put it in. The piece that I am having problems with is the one under the steering column. If someone could just take a picture of how it is in the car (you don't need to take it out, I just need to see it in place) that would be awesome. Thanksssssss:D

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / I met a Tiffany Cougar in person today
At a small local gathering. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. It was an 88 with a 5.0 which is rare. They made a lot of 87's but only a few of the 88's. I gave the owners a couple of cards and said you guys would probably really enjoy it if they came on here and told a little about the history of it. They know a lot about the Tiffanys. It was pretty neat talking to them.

This is their website: http://www.tiffanycar.com/ The car pictured in the top corner is the same one I saw.

Body/Appearance/Interior / I have solved what I think is a common console problem...
For those of you who have consoles that are have broken shifter plate tabs, for whatever reason, (for me it was cause mine came that way...) I have the solution.

Pretty simple really. All you have to do is get your hands on a couple of those clips that tighten down like the kind in the radio panel brackets and stick em on there right where the holes are. If there's any amount of tab left they'll stick right on and then when you screw the top plate on it will tighten them down right there in place.

Misc Tech / horn stuff
....Ok, so a couple weeks ago I slapped a tag on the 88 and took it out for a joyride. In the process of turning around my horn kind of.....disintegrated. Yeah, the part in the steering wheel. I took the pad off and everything in the hole was just falling apart and getting stuck in the wheel and causing the horn to go off.

....sooooo.... What I'm trying to figure out, is WHAT WOULD CAUSE MY HORN BUTTON TO DISINTEGRATE, and WHERE THE HECK ARE THE HORNS? I couldn't find the horns under the hood to unhook them. I have no idea where they are. Are they hidden under the fenders or something? Or am I just overlooking the obvious?

And then of course I haven't taken my wheel of yet, but do I have to replace the entire wheel now or is that stuff just attached to the steering column?

Lounge / So I took my wife to get tires with me today....
No, this is not a joke. Funny, but true.

So we're sitting there and she asks me "what's taking so long? Don't they just have to take them off and put them on like at the racetrack?"

So I had to explain to here that tires and wheels are not the same thing.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / I think it's time...
...to start holding onto our cars.

I mean, with eBay and craiglist prices really starting to go up, and the availability of JY cars dwindling even further than ever, it really seems to me like parting anything less than rottwagons is out of the question.

I wish I had been around back when parts and cars for us were as readily available as they are now for the MN12 crowd, but its just not happening anymore.

Not only that, but it seems like a nice car, especially an original, is really starting to be worth something. I mean, think of all the ebay ads we've seen lately for low mileage cars and they want upwards of 8,000 for them. Now whether they sell or not is another issue, but the fact of the matter is that's what people want for them, and they're not willing to let it go until somebody takes it.

I just don't think we can afford to trash and part out anything thats not already trashed. If you wind up with a fox that's even less than perfect, I'd say keep it cause you might not get another one....

Miscellaneous For Sale/Wanted / Ruger P95 9mm semi-auto pistol $300
Some of you may remember when I posted about this in the gun thread I started. Anyway, I'm going to sell it, and thought I would post it up here.

The gun is a Ruger P95 S/A 9mm, holds 10+1. It has all factory papers/dospoogeentation and owners manual, has factory case, and has fired less than 300 rounds. It comes with everything shown in the picture, 2 magazines and a loader, and also comes with a factory slide lock. There are aksi about 15 rounds in it now, I will include them with it just not loaded of course.

I paid $400 retail for this gun, and have seen it for no less than $325 and that was through an online retailer. I am asking $300 for it. Like I said, it is practically never been used, and is in as good of shape as new. I may take less if you are serious about buying it, send me a PM and make me an offer. Thanks.

Here is Ruger's website information on the gun:

Drivetrain Tech / odd but simple question. shift cable connection
Could somebody please post a pic or describe in great detail how to connnect a floor shift cable to the shifter arm on the transmission?

I think I'm missing a piece or something cause I cant get it to work right. It either locks up the cable or is too loose to work, and I think I'm missing a washer or something. I don't know.

Somebody please help me. I'm trying to get this working tonight. And please don't post the link to erics site, I've been looking at that diagram and its not helping.

Lounge / Am I the only one???
Seriously. Why is it that every time I set out to complete a project on the car, it ends up taking 2-5x longer than its supposed to? Is it just me? Is it a fault of cars and their backwoods engineering?

I tried to do the tranny swap today. I already had the bolts loose, had all the harnesses disconnected, had it drained, all I had to do was take 3 block-bellhousing bolts out, take the torque converter/flexplate bolts out, and then swap everything over to the new trans. Oh, and finish putting the shifter in the floor.

So I get the old one loose, ready to go. Find out my trans jack won't go high enough. So I get some blockage, then find out with that on there, it won't go low enough. So I finally design a rigged up support system so that I can hold it and take the blocking out. Then I find out it still won't go low enough to get it out. So I just pull it off and drag it out from under the car. And that was barely enough. With my jackstands maxed out.

Then I find out I gotta swap way to much  over to the next transmission. Anyway, I get all that done and then I gotta push the trans under the car, get it back up on the jack somehow, then rig up my supports again, then get the blocking under it, then I gotta fight to get the flexplate bolts back together. Fight with that for probably 20 mins, realize my gd starter is in my way so I cant get it close enough. Get the starter out of the way get everything else bolted up after taking way to long to get them lined up. Anyway, try to mate the engine and trans up with the pegs, can't get it to work. After paying closer attention, find out that both my engine AND trans have pins in them, well you cant get a round peg to fit in a round peg now can you?

So I try to get those out, fail, try some more, fail, decide there's no choice but to drop the tranny AGAIN. Then I try to beat the pins out of the bellhousing but its 10 30 at night and I can hear every smack echoing off all the neighbors houses all at once. Well now I've got tranny fluid ALL OVER EVERYTHING, tools EVERYWHERE, garbage and parts EVERYWHERE, and its all in my driveway for my landlord to call me up in the morning and explain to me that its not allowed in out lease to work on cars in the driveway. So I now have to clean up EVERYTHING. I've got a car that has to be lowered, tools to be put away, parts to be thrown away, parts to be organized, fluid to clean up, and junk trans to get rid of, and nowhere to put ANY OF IT.

So anyway, its now 11 56 and I've gotta be at work at 7 00 tomorrow, I've basically wasted an ENTIRE EVENING getting what is at this point the equivalent of nothing more than DROPPING 1 TRANSMISSION accomplished. I still haven't taken a shower or eaten dinner.

All ranting aside, why is it that everytime I try to do something that should easily be able to be accomplished in a hour, or a couple hours, or just a night, it ALWAYS ends up taking longer than it should?  Is it just me? Does everyone find themselves getting yelled at by their wives that it is TIME TO COME EAT...IT IS TIME TO COME TO BED...I HATE YOUR CAR....WHY DON'T YOU EVER SPEND TIME WITH MEEEEEEEEEEEE....... All because you can't seem to get anything done in a reasonable amount of time????? I qm SO PISSED OFF because I've gotten nothing done, and I should have been able to drive this thing by now.:punchballs::toilet:

//end rant. Please forgive me. I am very angry.
