I’m looking for some advice from an experienced body person to get me started on a little repair project. I have a couple of ideas but not exactly positive on the best way to do this.
The lower radiator support is pushed up as shown by the arrow in picture one. If it was accessible from the top I would just hammer/dolly the area but it’s boxed in as shown in picture two.
Any advice? I was thinking about cutting out the top flat section to gain access to the dent from the inside, hammer it out, then just weld the top piece back in and grind it flat.
Thanks in advance for any pointers.
(The pictures kind of make it look worse then it is)
Just a thought...since a lot of us here hate to see nice TBirds/Cougars end up in the junkyard, I'm thinking about posting a Wanted ad on craigslist to maybe catch a few before the owners call the tow truck. To most people these are just old cars worth nothing.
Worth a shot...free to list the ad, the only catch is I might find some and need to find a spot for them! :)
Craigslist has sites for all across the US so if everyone here does the same it would be interesting to see what we uncover.
I took advantage of the nice weather again and headed to another junkyard. I don’t think I saw one Cougar this time ..but I did find this 83TC someone mentioned was in the yard. It’s in sad shape and not much left. Missing engine/trans. Most of what is left is junk because whoever parted it first just yanked and ripped and broke just about everything they touched. Even though it’s a junkyard I still try to take most things off with TOOLS!
Hi, yes i still have the cougar. no inspection or registration. Clean title runs good, looks good needs heater, 2 tires. I have lots of emails here first come first serve. $275 610-346-6393 Thanks Bruce
Here's an interesting marking I found on my 83TC. I wonder if all 83 TC's got this? 84's?
And I wonder what the purpose was? It was obviously added after the car was painted but would have been covered up by the interior…some kind of identity marking for exterior trim?

Had a great time taking advantage of the nice weather and scouring the junkyard for goodies. I was looking for Tbird parts but seems the Cougars were more popular this visit. I came across an 83 LS 5.0 with what I believe was 74,000 originals miles! Here are a few pictures and I’ll post some of the goodies I found next! :-)
Anyone looking for 87 TBird parts? I found a white/red 87 (non TC) in a local junkyard and the weather is suppose to be nice the next couple of days so if there is something you need let me know. It been picked through somewhat but it looked like there would be some good parts left. I think I'll grab the outside mirrors, cornering lamps and one rear taillight if I get a chance. Let me know ASAP before the snow flies! :)
I highly doubt I’ll find rust free sheet metal on a wrecked Tbird here in the Northeast…. so if anyone has a source for good floorpans please let me know. I just need a small section on both the DS and PS footwell.
Former daily driver in the process of being cleaned up. Previous (2nd) owner lost interest as the car was parked for the last 1 ½ yrs.
Basics: >169,000+ miles > 5 speed > Blue / Blue Cloth > No sunroof
Cons: > Damage to DS rear quarter > Peeling clearcoat on roof and trunklid
Pros: > Un-modified, un-hacked, basically stock condition > Runs good and drives nice. > Everything I checked so far appears to work (keyless entry, radio, PW, PDL, lights, etc) > Turbo appears to have been replaced at some time.
This car was orphaned so I’m trying to bring it back and get it in the hands of an enthusiast. I would love keep it but currently have to many other Ford projects.
Email me for more details. I may repair the quarter and paint but the price would increase if I do.
