Im sick and tired of my Turbo Coupe. Yes, its quick, but thats all. The body is twisted, the radiator support is mangled, theres body work falling out of it, the rear quarter that was replaced is slowly separating, suspension is worn out, motor is tired, only thing good in the interior is the rear seat and console swich panel, its just a rough car. No matter what good parts i throw on it, its still a junker. My pictures hide a lot.

But anyways, i was looking for another turbo coupe to buy, a nice one, and i had 3 deals fall through. All of the others ive found were just too rough, needed work i didnt want to do, and when they were what i wanted, they were way out of my price range. So i started looking for something different. Thats when i found this guy:





Thats right. A mustang. An 86 Mustang GT convertible. The car is rough, but Im very happy with it. It runs great, drives great, very solid, and has only a little rust on the floor, none on the body other than where there were some paint chips. The only things it needs other than brakes up front, is appearance and cosmetics. It needs a new top, new seats, door panels, top motor, and other odds and ends. Anyways, heres a few more pics, i made sure to show everything, and not hide much.













All ive done was wash it, and degrease the engine bay a bit. Progress will come soon.

Im trying to find a rather nice 87-88 TC. Im not looking for mint, or low milage, just maybe a 7 out of 10 maybe.

Im trying to find a nice driver. It has to be a 5-speed. Need something that isnt too cosmetically challanged, decent amount of options, and has a decent interior.

My ideal is white or silver, with a red interior. Other colors will suffice if the price is nice enough.

Another thing is, i want one within maybe 3 hours of me, im right in the center of maryland for the most part.

-Two sets of brown top injectors. 35#. One set is in good shape, other set needs pintle caps and o-rings. 20+ shipping for good set, 15+ for other.

-Two 85-86 TC gauge clusters. 24psi boost gauge, and no ride control light. 7K rpm tach. 25+ shipping.
***i did check out the clusters, and one needs a lens. Two of the mounting ears are broken, and there is a sticker stuck in the bottom corner. You cant see the broken ears, but the old sticker residue is an eye sore, lowered to 15+ shipping***

-11" brake spindles. Off of an 88 GT. 50+ shipping.

-Two TC throttle bodies. One with sensors, one without. I dont know if the sensors are any good. 15+ shipping for one with sensors, 10+ shipping without.

-A pair of WORKING Electro Illuminescant cougar C-pillar emblems. 40+ shipping for the pair.

-I have 3 Cougar horn centers for the TC style steering wheel. 2 of them are in good shape. One, the spring falls off. A little dab of glue, or a fast hand and itll work no problem. Id like 15+ shipping for the good ones, and 10+ shipping for the "injured" one.

-Rail mounted fuel pressure gauge for 2.3L. 15+shipping

-Two tripminders from a crown vic with pigtail. 15+ shipping. 30+ shipping if you want it converted to fit an 85-87 specs.

Drivetrain Tech / Used clutch...
A buddy gave me a Spec Stage 1 a while back, it was used, and in good shape, other than the disc being glazed over.

I was thinking of using some 120 grit to clean the disc, but i would hate for me to clean it, put it in, and not work out.

Anyone do this?

1983 Kawasaki KZ550 LTD.

The bike was given to me by my aunt, who was tired of having to tinker with an older bike. She bought a 2001 Suzuki Intruder and didnt have time for two bikes, so she gave this one to me.

This thing needs a lot of work, its dirty, all the chrome is pitted, lot of paint damage on things like the fork and brackets, frame sections, and things like that. The carbs are off of the bike, all the ignition disconnected, and tons of odds and ends. I figure if i mess with it during the spring time, i can get it running rather well, get it shined up, and have a decent cruiser.

Drivetrain Tech / Budget AOD upgrades?
Im doing a 5.0 swap in my V6 car. I dont have access to a full T5 swap as of yet, so im going to just stuff the 5.0 in, backed with the V6 AOD.

Since the 5.0 wont be stock, and the V6 tranny is high milage, i know it wont hold up for very long, especially with my driving.

I know a tanny cooler will help out, but is there much more i can do to help prolong the life of it untill i get a 5-speed setup? Also keep in mind, ill be junking this thing once i get a 5-speed in it, so im not interested in sinking much into it.

This coming weekend, or next weekend, I may be pulling a junkyard 5.0

My reason for posting this thread, is im just looking for some tips, tricks, etc. Im not worried about the harness, so most of that will be cut. Any tricks, or tools to make the job easier?

Audio & Other Aftermarket Electronics / aftermarket amp, premium sound
I recently got a Cerwin Vega 10" sub from a buddy of mine, i already have an amp, and a box that i need to modify a bit. The biggest thing with me is that im trying to keep the Premium Sound radio and EQ fully functional, but thats not the main problem.

The problem im having, is figuring out how to send the "power on" signal to the amp, without having to manually turn a switch on and off. Is there a way to do this without the antenna signal?

Im really close to sping my TC.

Most of you dont know, but a few months back, i bought a Bobs log header, Precision SC50 turbo, MaxPSI oil lines, Hallman boost controller, and some other odds and ends. I spent a full, rainy saturday doing the swap. Took me 13 hours. 13 hours of cussing, fighting, wrestling, starving, and busting up anything that got in my way.

I finially fire the car up after priming the turbo, i got for a drive, and i didnt even get a mile before i started chugging smoke. Turns out the "indestructable" MaxPSI line kinked, blowing out the oil seal, and wiping out the bearings. So off the turbo went, and almost 200 bucks in shipping later, and a weeks worth of time, it came back repaired.

I get the turbo back on the car, and all is well, untill i have a bad bucking issue. A month and a half later, and a few hundred dollars in parts later, i find out to be the VAM. 107 dollar meter later, the car finally runs like a champ, and i crank the boost up. Car was fun...untill the turbo tried to exit the vehicle.

All of the studs/nuts holding the turbo to the header backed off. Turbo comes off, i crank down on all the nuts, and use loctite. About 2 weeks later, the same thing happened, but this time, i completely lost a stud, and two of the nuts were also gone, meaning i had only one nut holding the turbo on. So this time, it blew the gasket out between the turbo and header. I take it all back apart, and find a piece of gasket lodged in the header. Mind you, its a stainless gasket. Since i faught it to come out, i didnt think anything of it, untill i started driving the car. The turbo is wizzing and rattling its ass of. So this means the turbo has to be sent back out to Precision all over again.

So right now, i have about 1020 dollars in the turbo alone, this means itll probably cost me another 500 to have it fixed again.

This, on top of the car needing a windshield, a door, more body work than imaginable, shocks, struts, all the bushings, paint, a head built, and so much more, im thinking about sping it.

Engine Tech / MN12 engine mounts?
I remember there was talk about the upper motor mount brackets being similar to the fox mounts. Has anyone confirmed if these would work or not?

I need a set of the 5.0 motor mount plates for an 87 Tbird. Push comes to shove and this is the route i need to take. If you have some, post or PM me. I use paypal, but can send money order if needed. Can also trade a tripminder setup for these cars too.
