Took longer than I thought to do, but now I'll probably feel like trying 15 psi.

Just a little update:

Welded in some Summit Mustang subframe connectors and got an aluminum sealed battery box mounted in the trunk. Found the harness for the mirror mounted autodim sensor and plugged that in. I'm going to pull the headliner out and run the harness up, and get a Gentex autodim mirror with compass and temp sensor harness in there while I'm at it. I'll run wires for an Andrea microphone up to the driver's visor, too.

Got the harness made up for the 4R70W to connect to the Baumann and the car's harness. Started fitting the Mustang shifter. It'll need some fab to look OK, but nothing too bad I think. I intend to wire the map selector from the Baumann to the premium switch. It'll allow for a track tune on the tranny by clicking a button. I also got all the fittings to run new steel lines to the rad from the tranny. I'm just going to bend my own, and plumb in a cooler. I'm going to delete the fog lights, and use one hole for tranny cooler air, the other to route onto the alternator since it is close to the exhaust piping.

I have the electrics wiring all sketched out on paper now, Edis and engine harness complete and installed, using relays for headlight circuits under dash, fuel pump relay in trunk. Next is to wire the Weatherpak plugs to connect the engine harness to Megasquirt and wire in the trunk fuse panel and run the battery cables up.

Dude!  You are building my car!  I have the exact same plans!  Except my TC is blue and I will probably go with a B&G or Ponydown single turbo kit.

VERY NICE build.  I will be subscribing.

Glad to hear that you are still at it.  This car will be so sweet when done!

I REALLY got sidetracked with a bunch of other stuff that kept me off the car for 8 months. When my wife just got a new Honda CRV it got me truly motivated. She wanted me to get a new car, but Isaid I'd rather concentrate on getting the 'bird done.

It took a week of going over my notes to get my head around what I have, and now I'm back. Hopefully with you guy's help I'll get it done before Spring.

Shredder, I would have gone with a B&G, except for the fact that I wanted to use the Holset. After making the exhaust for my TR7, the Tbird wasn't too tough. I just needed to get used to having glasses on under the welding mask. There is an easier way of doing the trans mount. Ask me if you decide to use the 4R!

50brd88, I hope mine looks as good as yours when it's done! My painter isn't doing overall jobs any more, so I'll have to shoot this myself. I'm just going to go with a stock base/clear silver from Summit and take what I get. PPG is too expensive for me.

Stay tuned!

I know 1st hand how long it takes to build a car to how you want it.  I've been working on mine since 2004 or 2005 and its still not done.  lol.  These cars are getting old and it seems there is always something to do.

I had a neighbor guy who is a body man by trade paint my car in his home garage in his spare time.  It turned out great and was way cheaper than paying a shop to do it.  I have done some body work in the past but figured as much as I cherish this car, I better let a pro paint it for me.  So far I've done all of the mechanicals myself or with the help of friends, though.

Me, too! Now that the battery box is mounted I can get the fuel tank in and get the fuel lines flushed.  One step at a time.

Part of the delay was that I kept changing my mind on things and was reluctant to finalize the wiring. I figured I'd just shut down the waffling by buying the carpc stuff. Now I have everything here except the USB hub and 5v auxiliary power supply, so I know what I need for power and grounds.

I have recently decided to tear out the headliner and re-do it, which lead to wanting to install a fancy rearview mirror. I'm going to lock down the design right here and go with it, though. It's almost a relief in a way. My old boss had a saying that "perfection can be  the enemy of good enough", and I was getting paralyzed by trying to foresee everything. It's time to just get it put together and sort out my errors when I find them.

As far as the paint, I've painted a number of cars in the past and can still do it. I just don't like to any more. My guy Frank always did a nice job on stuff I sent him, but if he can't do it I'll just bite the bullet. The car only has one dent in the driver's door to fix, and absolutely no rust repair to do, so it'll be pretty easy, really. I'm hoping to get it done in 2 weeks from when I start.

I won't be doing jambs or engine bay, but the best hood and nose I have are black, so I'll be shooting the backsides of those. I got a clean front left fender to replace the dented one that's on the car, and it has too much paint on it, so I'll be stripping it before it gets shot. Aside from that it'll be mostly just a scuff and squirt.

Summit Mustang sub's. Hammered flatter they fit fine. I'll be making some seat braces today or Wed. The welds suck, I know. I am having trouble with my old Lincoln. It may be time to get a new one.X
