Electrical Tech / Re: eec question
So a calibrated maf tricks the computer with voltages. If you have a computer setup for 19 lbs injectors and you install 24lbs injectors in the vehicle and use the stock maf you will run very rich. 24/19= 1.26 so your calibrated maf will tell the computer it has 1.26 times less air in order to compensate for the higher flow rate of the injectors. That's ALL it does it tells the computer you have 1.26 times less air with the voltage. So you take this same calibrated maf and pair it with a computer setup for 24lbs injectors and guess what it will do? It will tell the computer you have 1.26 times less air, therefore you will be too lean which is worse than too rich if you ask me. You would have to use the maf for that EEC or tune your computer which is what I did I run an A9L with 47 lb injectors and a pmaf, my software allows me to change the maf transfer (voltage the computer sees from the maf) and injector hi and lo slope and a lot more . Calibrated mafs work OK but aren't perfect. Fun fact, at light/part throttle the computer uses airflow to calculate ignition timing as well.

Electrical Tech / Re: 88 Bird intermittent engine shut down***SOLVED
I just went back and read the post, this exact story happened to me a few years back when I converted my car to HO and replaced the distributor for some reason I can't remember. I still have 4 or 5 tfi modules laying around somewhere taken apart before I started replacing  the distributors. At one point I also had a cap leaking and would drop my tachometer out at higher rpms and misfire/cutout, that's a fun one when you find it by adjusting the timing and get bit multiple times by 40kv. I wish I would have read your post sooner! I would have mentioned all that.

I have all 4 gears again! Car pulls great and shifts perfect now, still waiting for a response from monster transmission. Now I get the car ready and tuned in for a race on June 8th I'll report back hopefully with semi-clearish videos and improved time-slips

I went through 4 MSD pro billet distributors from Orielly all cutting out above 2000 rpm before I finally bought one from american muscle and its been in the car for 2 years now with no problems, since then I've always carried a spare "known good" distributor in the trunk just in case.

So I ended up filing a complaint with the BBB because  they would not contact me back. Just received their response today they said they would repair the unit but I would have to pay shipping back. What I want is to return it for a full refund because  obviously I can't trust them to send me a functioning transmission. Besides that my old trans is ready to be installed and I'm towing the car to my work tomorrow to throw it in and get it running again. I miss driving it quite a bit at this point.

Update, I decided to just buy a rebuild kit and performance valve body for my old transmission so I'll get that one going and take out the monster transmission junk and see what happened.

I've tried countless times to get ahold of monster transmission for help, even for just technical advice but no one will contact me back about anything. So, learned my lesson there unfortunately.

Well I believe I'm in the cut communications phase now because they won't respond to me anymore  and I have been surprisingly calm with them. So now to plan my next steps why the car sits in my garage and stares at me.

Vfn fiberglass its a 5" extended cowl. They do have bolt on options as well just not for the extended style for obvious reasons. Took them about 2 months from the time I ordered it until it got to my door. Fit was very nice from the beginning, did not have to do a lot of tpuppies.

The governor they overnighted me did not fix the problem, also the governor out of the old trans that I know worked did not fix it either.

Now, I seem to have also lost 3rd and 4th gear while driving it easy trying to get it back home so not the best weekend, and I did not make the race. I'll get it figured out soon and report back. The new trans has less than 50 miles on it.

Finally got my trans from monster transmission got it installed and didn't have second gear, So I called them they told me it was my governor and they'd send out a new one so I'm hoping to have time to just swap out my governor from the old trans for now and see what happens, with any luck I'll have it fixed by this Saturday for a race. Also I got my hands on a turbo coupe header panel.

Electrical Tech / Re: ECM non bird or cat info.
You may be able to have a tuning shop do that for you. If they have the software for that ECU they can change the value of TRLOAD and TSTRAT and burn a chip for you. Im not to well versed in ECU crossovers but Im wondering if one of the mustang ones would work I believe the cbaza strategy with the T4M0 ECU is 94-95 Mustang 5.0 with manual trans.
