Having ignition issues

I'm having issues trying to start my car with the key unless I run a jumper wire from the ignition start relay on the steering column or a 12 pin plug under the dash straight to the starter solenoid. In the attached pictures you can see a blue wire I ran to allow the car to start with the key . I've traced the red/lb wire frome the starter solenoid under the dash to where it changes to white/pk . I'm At a complete loss . It's an 88 tc 5peed car . My son done an Interior swap from blue to red . He had a 88 tc that rusted out and was unsafe to drive he was driving that car then swapped everything over to my cars body, engine dash interior . I just can't figure out where the issue is at any help would be nice.

Muttwood I've got the clutch safety switch bypassed.

You need to trace the ignition trigger back (RD/BL wire) from the solenoid. Is your clutch switch bypass jumper any good? Could have a bac jumper.
Have you tried connecting your bypass wire out to the solenoid to the clutch switch plug that you have your jumper at?

Were both cars 2.3T manuals? Did you change engine harness?

In the posted diagram:
C150 is the 12 pin connector. C501 is a 4 pin connector mounted on a bracket near the transmission.
The R/LB and W/PK wires should be jumpered together at c501 for a manual transmission.
The other two wires at C501 are the backup lights.

Yeah, it wasn't stated whether both cars were manual to begin with. The NSS bypass could still be needed.

Chuck both cars ran as manuals. My boy took my trans and put in his auto car, manual swap . Then when his tc caught fire . He than swapped everything over to my car. He got the motor, trans put in then he became a dad and let the car go . I got laid off and I'm trying to get it back up running. The jumper is good as far as a continuity test goes but I'll make a new one tomorrow and try it. I have 12v at the c150 12 pin connect Soft touch mentioned. The r/lb goes fry the ignition switch to the 12 pin . 12v when key is turned to start than 0v when let off.the blue speaker wire you see in the photos I was using to jump to the starter solenoid. Hope this information helps.

Also the car will run after it starts and idles , revs up then shuts off just fine . When jumper wire is used to the starter solenoid it will start every time with the key.

You need to test the continuity of the rd/lb wire between the solenoid and that plug you have jumpered for the clutch switch.

Then you need to check from that same connector on the WH/PK wire back up to the ignition switch. Your break is on either side of that. Is the 4-pin connector under the car as softtouch mentioned connected? Do you have reverse lights?

All you're doing is bypassing that whole lot with your blue wire, which is why it starts with that in place.

Looking at what you have and examining the wiring diagram, the plug/jumper under the car that goes to the transmission is most likely the culprit.

Ok ill look for the plug under the car that's what I've been missing I do believe. I don't have any lights hooked up yet. In the back wanting to go thru all bolts nuts getting it starting on its own . I'm going from the front to the back one part at a time . That way when I get to the back the tail lights will be the last parts I put back on the tbird. Than it will be ready to go nothing missing or lose.

Yeah, on that plug, as mentioned 2 wires are for the reverse lights and the other 2 just loop together as the NSS bypass for a manual car. If that's missing, you will not get power to the solenoid when you try and start the car.

Chuck I found the transmission wire harnesses you were talking about. But I can't find the side it plugs into on the car .

I'm missing the harness from the 12 pin connector in the first picture that goes to the transmission tunnel

Found the harness and the car starts now . Just need to find the speedo harness for the transmission
