i will probably get a k-member. ive actually found someone local that has put a 351 into an 87 bird, he used an 83 k-member, and a truck rear sump pan. so im gonna try the pan that ive got and see how that works. also will any mustang (talking fox body) k-member fit??

The mustang K member will bolt in but there is no advantage to using it in your car If you already have 5.0 mounts like you told me in your thread on SCF

The truck pan will work fine In your car.

The fox body K-Member is what I was talking about...79-93 Fox Mustang K-Member.

The truck pan will work fine In your car.

truck pan may rub the k on the pass side. THat is what i experienced and had to shim between the pass isolator and the engine mount with a washer. It does not help matters that the engine torques to the pass side either. I clear the frame by a meer 1/8''.
its one of the reasons i made my own engine mounts. Perhaps my pan is a lot larger,,8qt and causes the problem.

i was just going to use a stock rear sump oil pan. thanks for the info. and my k-member is OE with my bird. and the 5.0 mustang mounts are different than my 5.0 bird mounts.

I thought about doing this too. Luckily mine has the 85 K member but I can't find a pan so, probably not going to happen.

find a truck/van pan to use. may work... i matched the pans foxbody 5.0, to a 5.0 truck/van rear sump pan and it seems as if its going to work.

Just get a Ford Racing part#M-6675-A58. rearsump,5qt,fits all 79-93 fox body cars. Seen a couple on e-bay for about 135 or so!!!
Oh and this is 351w pan. comes with pickup tube,dipstick,and main stud for pickup tube!!!

well im not going to be using a 351w that i was given. it had the top compression ring was broken and galled a cylinder wall. it will require a rebuild. so im just going to spend that money and rebuild my 302 that is in the car.
