T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / Blue Max Edition Cougar - $500
Edit: Whoops, sorry for the gigantic, grainy picturs  :slap:

Drove by this "beauty" while passing through Waldorf, MD and thought someone here might be interested. I couldn't tell if it was a V6 or V8. Shoot me a PM if you want the seller's phone number or more pictures. I spent a good 15 minutes walking around this car, here's what I noticed:

Cons:
- Very rusted out door bottoms and areas behind wheel wells.
- Will need a transmission
- Flat tire. I think this is why the suspension looks funny, but should be ok once a good tire is put on.
- Door panels look like they have all hardware intact, but missing some of the "trim" materials.

Pros:
- Great looking original paint (besides the rusted parts).
- Body is VERY straight
- Underside looks good. No rust or damage.
- Seats inside look excellent.
- All lights, mirrors, windows in great shape

Options:
- Floor shift
- Full digital dash
- Power drivers seat
- Power antenna
- Power windows
- no ATC, no premium sound

Misc Tech / Changing Motor Mounts - Need Tips
I'm headed over to bondocougar's place tomorrow (if the weather holds up) to see if we can't figure out how to swap out both motor mounts, which are currently soaked in PB blaster. I'm looking for any recommendations/advice/corrections that will make this process faster and avoid breaking anything!  :yuck:  Thanks in advance for everyone's help!

Car: 1988 Cougar XR7, 5.0 L engine

Replacement Mounts: NAPA Solid Motor Mounts, # 6121649. I chose solid because (according to the board) they are far more reliable than hydraulic mounts. However, they might negatively affect ride quality.  :hick:

- NAPA sent me two different looking motor mounts, but they both have the same part number and equivalent attachment points.
*** BUT, one is higher than the other (see attached pictures). Is this a concern? And can someone confirm that these motor mounts are what I need?

The Plan: (a combination of Haynes and Joe's knowledge)
1. Drive front end up on ramps, disconnect battery cables, block wheels, etc.
2. Loosen tranny mount.
3. Remove fan shroud.
4. Disconnect floor shift linkage from tranny.
5. Remove through bolts (running through crossmember).
6. Use jack (with piece of wood) under oil pan to raise entire engine. (We were thinking of using an engine hoist instead).
7. Unbolt mount from engine block (the stud and bolt at weird angles).
8. Transfer brackets to new mounts.
*** Any tips on how to preserve the original alignment? The new mounts don't have any fixed position.
9. Reverse the procedure.

Am I missing anything? Again, thanks for everyone's help!

Misc Tech / TV / kickdown cable picture
I was changing the passenger side valve cover gasket today and accidentally popped off the TV / kickdown cable off the AOD Cougar (luckily I found the hairpin again). Could I get a picture of how this thing attaches back to the lever? It seemed pretty intuitive at the time, but I'd like to double check - it still seems this thing could pop off pretty easily?

Also, now that the cable came off, is there anything else I need to check before driving around again?

Electrical Tech / Brake Light Problem
During the last Cat Jam, my brake lights quit working. Bondocougar showed me the stoplight switch (the one that straddles the master cylinder pushrod) and pointed out that the wires fray easily and break. He put in some alligator clips as a temporary solution.

Well, last night the brake lights quit working again so I figured it was a good time to fix it permanently. Instead of messing with the female end of the connecter, I just cut it off and soldered some 14 gauge wires directly to the terminals, then to the wiring. I also took off the stoplight switch and cleaned the contact points with acetone.

Now, the problem is that the driver and middle brake lights activate, but for some reason the passenger side brake light will not work. The bulbs are fine, and they light up normally. Could this problem have started at the stoplight switch? I always thought they followed the same circuit back, so it doesn't make sense that only 2 of the 3 would work. Any help/advice/wiring diagrams would be appreciated!

Suspension/Steering / Maximum Motorsports Caster/Camber Plates
A question about compatibility:

The maximum motorsports website lists different part numbers for caster/camber plates for 79-89 Mustangs (7989), 90-93 Mustangs (9093) and 83-88 Thunderbirds (8388). Can these "different" plates be interchanged? Is anyone using MM C/C plates for a "Mustang" on their T-bird or Cougar? Any adjustments/modifications?

The reason I ask is that Corral.net is having a pretty good deal on MM Mustang C/C plates (7989).  If they can be used on the T-bird/Cougar with success, I wouldn't mind picking up a set.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / WTB: "Ford" Turbine Center Caps
Everyone's been telling me they see these all over the place, but I just can't seem to find them anywhere (JY or ebay). Anyone have a set of 4 or know where I can get for cheap? (don't have to be show quality or anything)
