Emissions....

so...what exactly is required to make a 5.0 run "clean". since i did the 5 speed conversion, i capped the tube that goes to the smog pump on the h pipe side and left the pump open. i plugged the tubes from the back of the heads. the h pipe is a gutted stang unit. the only other thing i can remember tampering with was un hooking a litle black blastic tube that went to one of the smog valves that were deleted with the smog tubes. the o2 sensors were good and all i did was lengthen the wires. the passenger side header leaks enough at the  to sound like a truck because i pushed the hpipe up so high. (no ler hangars, this exaust was a bandaid).

the car smells, rich i guess. i stink if i have driven it around for awhile. the tranny tunnel is open basically cause the shift boot is the only thing sepperating the interior and exterior there. i figure what i smell is basically the exaust leak up front working its way back through the tunnel. giving it a few revs and the exaust smells rich.

what im getting at, is i want a clean running car. i plan on buying a quality high flow h pipe WITH cat converters. from what i can tell, the modular engines egr is similar too the 5.0s. im not realy sure how it works though. im not all that concerned to weather of not this thing is fully emissions safe but i certainly cant have it smelling like sh@. i realy do want it to run clean. i need help and suggestions in this area. thats it for now i guess...thanks, john
