88 XR-7 red 146K mi Sykesville, MD orig owner

I looked at this car yesterday.

ebay# 321181676979

seller has it listed at $2900 but is taking offers.

Quoted from the ad:

"Runs well, never wrecked, interior is fair (needs minor fabric gluing on sunroof cover, driver's seat is worn). Has air conditioning and sunroof options - fully loaded! Needs passenger side headlamp bucket assembly. Recent work done includes new radiator & hoses, front calipers, and complete tuneup with ignition wire replacement. Power door lock on passenger side doesn't work. Plastic bracket that supports the emergency brake release handle is broken."

"I'm the original owner, but need to sell this car to allow more time for my Mustang and other, numerous vehicles!"

No.  Slight, and I mean slight top layer of flaking on the inside edge of the bottom of the doors.  So minor that a whisking away, cleaning and rust preventer is all that would be needed.  It does not affect the metal down there and definitely not affecting the outside edge.  The very bottom edge isn't affected either as the door skin still rolls/wraps nicely around the bottom edge and you can run your finger along the bottom of the door where the skin rolls/wraps under.

Thanks for the descriptive assessment.  I have a brother in Columbia, MD and may ask him to check it out.  I attended UMBC and know the area.  I can catch a Southwest hop to BWI for a reasonable price.

I'd probably slap an exhaust system on before driving that far. The exhaust has leaks. I don't know where though as I didn't have reason to seek out the areas where the exhaust was rusted out since exhaust is easy enough to replace anyway - except maybe the headers or manifolds (little more involved as you all know).

The right rear quarter was repainted but for damage only at the very bottom below the molding.  I pulled the trunk liner back and the back side of the quarter looked untouched. I had to reach all the way down at the bottom to feel any irregularities on the back side from the repair.

I suspect the moonroof is an ASC or similar installed by the dealer or between the factory and the dealer. He is the original owner and the moonroof has been there since new but it's not the same style as the factory ones with the louvered shade and chrome strip around the perimeter.

Please see my add in the for sale forum. I have a very similar car for a similar price. IMO more mechanically sound than what is described above. I live in central PA
