Our cars feature opening doors, hood, trunk, even gas door!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Absolutely-Stunning-1988-Mercury-Cougar-MINT-Must-See-/230580946894?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item35afb207ce

Can someone fill me in as to why so many people photograph their car with all the doors, hood, trunk, etc open like it's a model?  Unless there is some special feature, like lambo hinge kits or the like, I don't understand the full car shots from a distance with all the doors open.

(This is not a 'lead' thread hence the post in the lounge.)

I've always liked it. On coupes.

I think the trunk and gas door is definitely overkill though lol.

Heh heh heh....heh heh....HA HAHAHAHAHAHAAA really that's my reaction as I progressed from reading the title to realizing I've seen that car listed several times, then your comments.

OH but that's where our cars derive their uniqueness don't you see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????? You used to have to Dukes-Of-Hazard-Style it through the permanently open window. Pshhhh, not anymore with the thundercougarfalconbirds!

On a side note, I like how there's currently THREE brown 87/88 cougars on ebay right now all of which have been there on and off for many months now. I think two of those have consistently been re-listed immediately after their expiration. LOL

Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...

I would have thought he would have at least wanted to take the old tire out of the trunk before posting how clean and original the car is. I dunno, kinda makes me question how he is handling it I guess. And a cat back exaust on a supposedly old ladies car? I dunno about that one either, sounds odd to me unless it was actually added years ago which wasn't stated. But that is just my thoughts......

Sounds legit to me. Show it the way it is, disclose everything. That's the way a good seller does things. Even though the car is in excellent shape, new exhaust is a common thing to change after 20 something years. I'd guess the doors, trunk, and hood were all opened so people could see there's nothing to hide. Check it all out. I'd trust what he's saying, and as far as the $4500.00. I think it's worth it for the condition of the car. These cars are very slowly going up in price. We're just so used to finding them broke and cheap that we all have become complacent thinking they have a great personal value but no monetary value. I don't se any problems with the listing. It all looks to be on the up-and-up. I've sen quite a few T-Birds and Cougars re-listed due to not selling the first time. I don't think that reflects on the quality of the car, but more about the type of car. We all know these cars aren't the top of the list when people are looking for a good used car. They just aren't that popular amonst the majority of people. Anyway,I saw no issues with the ad or how it was done.

Rare one-year-only Cinnabar interior.
Medium Sandalwood exterior.
26K on the ticker.

Nothing wrong with that. Price is better now; it's in line, whereas before it was up near $8K IIRC.

Nice car.

(The doors, hood, trunk, etc. are only open to show no rust, and how clean it is. That's cool...but I'd rather see them all shut so you can spot dings.)

The only reason its been relisted is because I dont have the money to buy it. This car is ment. Too bad it's not a 5.0.

Nice Cougar. When I get my replacement Fox I'd be more than willing to pay that much for a car in good shape. The engine doesn't even matter, since no matter what was between the fenders it'd be coming out for something more powerful anyway. Coulour isn't an issue either, since if it happens I end up in a four eye Bird I will be painting it Light Sage Green Metallic anyway, in honour of my first one...

Ok, I don't see how standing 10 feet away will show how clean the underside of the doors and trunk lid are.  If you want to show how clean those spots are, take close-up shots of those areas.
I wasn't questioning price or anything else, just the open doors and hood and all that .  It takes away from the ad (not having complete shots).
Geez, I guess I am all alone on this one.  Guess I should take shots from 10 feet away to show no rust on my next listing.

your not alone, i agree totally but............

the whole listing was brought all together as totally honest when they guy explained how he extracted the fuel and did it correctly.

Not just anyone knows that, so he was really taking his time to show off the facts in writting.  His knowledge of the car was well done also so I believe the add more because of it.
In short, based on the write up, i really wouldnt need proof cause thats just asking to be shown proof of what you were told.

I dont think id tear down the car though, I wish i had the money to collect up a few like this and park em.  have a sun-sat line up to drive.
