head question

Hey guys I have a question for ya all. I have pretty much settled on a plan for my engine and car and would like some opinions on head options. The car is a 88 5.0 Bird that is fully loaded. My motor set up is going to look like this.

Ported and gasket matched stock HO upper and lower intake manifold with a 65mm tb.

Rebuilt stock block with new pistons w/valve reliefs.

Stock HO cam and injectors.

HO speed density computer.

I'm going with speed density to keep costs down (I ain't exactally rich :disappoin ) but I would like some more power than a stock HO.
The car will also have headers, 2.5 dual exhaust, and 3.73 gears and a trac lock. I'de like to get a set of heads that would work well with speed density and be very reliable. I'de like to have about 250- 260 hp and 300+ft/lbs of torque. I'de like the engine to be as reliable as a stock HO but have the ability to push my Bird to a mid 14 second quater mile. If you guys have had a good experience with a particular head I would greatly appriciate any imput you could give me. The car will not be a daily driver but I would like to be able to put on 100,000 miles on the engine after the rebuild. Thanks for any imput you guys can provide.

If I sell my base Bird(without the engine), I'll have a set of LOW milage World Product Windsor Jr heads available. With a mild cam, Cobra/GT40 intake, 2400 stall converter, and the mods you mentioned mid/high 13s should be possible.

With an HO and 3.73s you should be in the 14s anyhow.
But if you are dead set on spending 800+ dollars your choices are:
Edelbrock 60379 performers
Trickflow twisted wedge
Afr 165s
ford motorsport aluminum heads X,Y ect.
World.
These heads are a list of the smaller heads that should work well with your combo.
Personally i have gone with the performers but have yet to install them(just lazy i guess)so i cannot post results but thunder302 has the exact setup i'm going to be running in my car and he is very happy with them.
I'm running about 240ish in my HO right now just with the stock eng, underdrives, intake spacer, k&n,shorty equal headers and a full 2.5" mac exaust modified to fit my bird.
There are many products that you can install to get you to 250-260hp without spending that kind of cash.
I wanted at least 1hp per cube and i should have at least that, around 315-325 according to dyno results i've read but i've also spent about 2500 dollars to get all the right parts.

Thanks for the input guys. I believe I'm going to go with either a set of World Products Windsor Jr. heads or a set of GT-40 or Gt-40P irons. Turbocoupe50 thanks for the offer for the Windsor Jr. heads. I probibly won't be able to get heads till next summer (I'm waiting till I get a raise so I can blow money on parts :D ) so I won't be able to get the heads at this time. I'm going to try to get this done next summer so I can have some fun and go to the track and not be blown away by a Civic or something. As the car stands right now it already has the headers, duals, intake, and gears on it that I have listed plus a 180* thermostate. Car feels like it could pull a high 15 right now but I'de rather wait till I have a HO to go to the track.

Oh one more thing. Is the stock HO Bird (91-93) cam the same as the one used in the HO Mustang? I was wondering because I might be able to get one with 34,000 miles on it for free. Thanks again.

I had a set of E7's rebuilt and sized for gt40 valves for my HO motor. I haven't got to drive it yet, sounds good with open headers though

Paul for the board members, I'd like $500 for them. They have no more than 10-12K on them and sell for $900 new...

As I stated this all hinges on selling the body....

"part#F3ZE-CA was phased into OE thunderbird/cougar service during the 93 model year.this is yhe same cam used in the 93 mustang cobraR. 451/451 lift 270 duration."that would be 479 lift with 1.7 roller rockers.anyway, that quote was from a mm and ff mag article on the gt-40p explorer/mountaineer engines.
