Engine sputtering

Hey guys I have a question for ya. I have an 88 5.0 Bird that has a few mods (HO upper+throttle body, 1/2 fms upper intake heat spacer, March Ram Air, stock Stang shorties with 2.25" duals, and a 180* thermostate) that has a slight sputtering problem on a cold start. When the car sits about a week and is started it idols fine but when I put it in reverse to back out of the garage it starts to sputter/almost die and make a non smooth grump grump grump sound. If I give it a little gas it stops and the problem won't occure again unless I let it sit for a week. I thought it was the tps so I adjusted it to .98 volts at idol but it hasen't helped. I'm starting to wonder if mabey my car is  . I'de appriciate any suggestion on what might be causing the problem. Thanks.

Due to the cam my Bird does more less the same any time I start it cold. And the old Arerostar van does it as well, I haven't worried about it..

But you may try cleaning the IAC to see if it will help...
