Odd cars to hot rod

Have you guys ever had the urge to hot rod a car that usually isn't considered modification worthy? I was sitting at a stop light the other day and a late 80s-early 90s Crown Vic stoped next to me. I thought wouldn't it be cool to drop a 460 with Ford racing aluminium Cobra Jet heads and a C6 in there. I'de leave the body and rims completly stock. I think it would make the ultimate sleaper.

I've also had a couple of other strange cars I'de like to modify.

Mid to late 80s Dodge Diplomat. Stuff a 440 Six Pack and a 727 Torque Flight. Leave the wire wheels on the car too ;) .

Early 1980 Oldmobile Delta 88. My grandparents used to have one that was cream with a gold vinal top and a gold cloth interior. I've had thoughts about puting a 455 Olds backed by a turbo 400 in one. I'de also put a set of Olds Ralley wheels on it and call it a "Rocket 88" :hick: .

So you guys have any strange cars you'de like to modify?
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

some of the crown vics (or should I say lots) had the 351 factory. It would be easy to just swap it out with mustang 351 parts. I always wanted to pimp out my dads crown vic station wagon. Add more chrome, jet black, big assed blower/supercharger sticking out of the hood and a wheelie bar just for effect. and of course the obligatory flames down both sides.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

they are so's. I ment to sup it up. Its the same as an 86-88 cougar in most cases. I am sure that they came with the 351's. The only diffrence between a cougar engine is the fuel rails mount backwards makeing it difficult to convert it to the mustang style intake. It uses the drivers side intake thingy like trucks do.

I have a HO swap done to the 5.0L in my grand marquis, it is a fairly popular mod as long as your willing to get dirty.  The parts are cheap and plentiful from mustang boards and the cars are cheap because old people lose the abiltity to drive.

Little? The II's were the 5000lb behemoths made up to 1979 or so, then just called LTD for a couple of years before the Fox LTD version came out and the biggies became Crown Victorias.

Maybe a nice 5.0 or Turbo wagooon?
Not particularly "odd", but they only came with the 3.8 V6.

Actually I think this to be kind of true. When you think of a car to modify, a Cougar or T-bird isn't first that comes to mind.

There's a guy around here with a Lincoln Town Car.
I've seen this thing at a few shows and it's just wild.

Unless it was a sporty LX model or a police version, in which case they got the 5.0 HO. I've also heard of them having a 2.3 but I've never seen one.  Oh, and I've seen one or two with a 200 I6.

I'm pretty sure the Crown Vic came with a 351 in the late 80's, but only police versions

I wanna hot rod a Volvo 7 or 9 series wagon. You can buy kits to drop a 5.0/T5 combo into one...

The early 80's Crown Vics had a 351 optional on civilian cars, too I think. Not very common, though.
