I'm not having any problems with my Tbird it's running fine but I'm worried about the age of my TFI and ignition coil. They are the original factory installed ones and they are 18 years old. The car runs fine with no indication they are failing but I was wondering if it would be a good idea to change them just to play it safe and avoid future problems?
Well I was playing with the Tbird this past weekend and I noticed something about my stock rear sway bar. If I punch the throttle in a turn the rear of the car will start to come out a very little bit before it goes back to understear. Now I have the stock V8 LX rear sway bar (ie the really little one) so if I upgraded to the 7/8" TC one would that help to induce some controllable overstear? I'm just looking to balance out the handling a little bit. Oh yeah the front sway bar is the 1 and 1/8" sway bar with poly bushings and endlinks.
So is there a good way to remove Armor All? I used some on my dash last summer (I know ) and I need to take it off to put a dash cap on. Can I just use a degreaser? I don't want to damage the dash top because I need a good surface for the cap. I just want the cap to, you know, stick to the dash :D
Just wondering what some of your favorite driving songs are. Here are some of mine.
1. Highway Star-Deep Purple 2. Radar Love-Golden Earing 3. I'm bad I'm nation wide-ZZ Top 4. Fuel- Metallica 5. Riding on the Wind-Judas Priest 6. Hot Rod Lincoln-?
I remember reading which one of the lines on the vac tree by the power brake booster led to the automatic parking break release but I can't remember which one it is. I want to pull it and cap it because that hissing is getting annoying and I don't use it any ways. Thanks.
I was just wondering if anyone has used KYB shocks and struts on their Tbird or Cougar. I have to get new shocks for my Bird before I bring it out in about a month and I was wondering if the KYB shocks and struts would be better than the Monroe Sensatracks I was going to use. Any input would be great. Thanks.
Well this summer is going to be the last summer for my tires (they are 5 years old time for a new set). I figured since I'm going to get new tires either after I take the car out in April or early next year that I might as well get new wheels as well. I like my 8 holes but they are just too small. They are only 14" and have a 215 section tire on them. I want something a little bigger and that can have at least a 225 section tire mounted on it. The only problem is I like so many different wheels that I don't know which would look best on my Bird. I'm putting up the ones I like in 15", 16", and 17" sizes. I'm interested as to what you guys think would look best on my Bird. I either want plain aluminium finish or silver. Polished or chrome just looks too gaudy to me. Thanks guys. First a pic of my Bird and then the 15" wheels I like.
I've got a 8 tooth drive gear in the tranny and 3.73 gears out back. I've got a 21 tooth purple driven gear in right now and the speedo seems to be about 5-7 mph off. So do you guys think that this 23 tooth auto transmission driven gear would make it closer? Also can I get it from a Ford dealer?
I figured since everyone at one time or another asks how a particular exhaust combo sounds that I'd start this thread. Here's the link to mine. I have a 5.0 with stock Mustang shorties, custom 2.25 dual exhaust with no crossover, cats, and Flowtech Afterburner lers. Enjoy :D
Well I'm almost done with my engine bay. I'm about 90% done and I'm just waiting for the battery tray, negative battery cable, and the radiator support decals I ordered from 50resto to come in and then I'll be done. But for now here's how the bay looks as of now. Let me know what you guys think :D
Ok guys I'm not very good at chassies tuning so I was wondering if you guys could help me out. My chassies set up so far is this: stock 88 LX V8 front sway bar 1 1/8" with Prothane bushings and end links, stock V8 LX springs, Monroe Sensatrack shocks and struts, and the stock LX V8 rear sway bar. I want to dial in a bit of overstear since the car tends to understear slightly and I was wondering how big of a rear sway bar I should get. Is the Turbo Coupe one enough or should I go with a Cobra rear bar that's 27, 28, or 29mm? I don't want to change the front bar because I just put new bushings on and, correct me if I'm wrong, but increasing the size of the front bar would increase understear. I would appriciate any help you guys could provide on the topic :D .
