Mk 7 axles are 1/2" longer than the TC/94-98 Mustang axles.

There are still some parts around here, I think. A lot of 'birds were sold in this area.

I'll start to watch Craigs list for a complete axle.

Little update.

Looks like re-locating the breather element has done wonders to keep the smell down in the car. I still want to eventually ditch the open element all together and route the fumes into the air cleaner.

I spent time yesterday on the car-pc software and made some progress.

I now have these features:

Input/output to computer from Baumann trans controller, Megasquirt fuel injection controller, GPS, HD radio and amp, wireless internet, cell phone data sharing for internet

auto-switched backup camera

Front-end software for car-pc has working skins for Garmin GPS, real-time traffic via Google, Weatherunderground weather and 5-day forecasts, HD radio with presets, Mp3 music player with equalizer, video player, youtube and Pandora

I was having a problem with only the radio playing out the back speakers, and at a much higher level than the mp3's.  I had to go from trying to use two outputs from the sound card to just stereo out and splitting it to front and rear into the amp. It was nice to play with fader, but I ended up using the amp to adjust that once and for all. Then I could even out the volume from the different sources to a more even level.  I am satisfied with the result.

Next up is to get the voice commands working.

I'd like to be able to end up being able to just command almost all the functions with voice, including song selection and navigation. That'll be a long-term project I'm sure.

I still have to spend a weekend on the center console to cover it in leather. I am thinking of trying to mount a couple of inset shallow cup holders in front of the shifter. I end up balancing my coffee cup there every morning, so it seems the logical spot.

Mileage was 15 on the last tank. I am still doing some sitting and idling and some WOT blasts, though. I guess it's not horrible.

Thanks, guys. It's really a fun, comfy car to drive.

I'm going to work today on getting the oil breather routed into the air cleaner. That should kill the last little bit of oil smoke smell I get when idling after a hard run.

The only bummer at this point is that I am still seeing bubbles in the radiator overflow tank, and it seems to still want to push out water. I noticed it right away, but wanted to try a few things before I resigned myself to the obvious facts.

I am not seeing evidence of water in the oil or cylinders, just combustion gasses making it into the water jacket somewhere.

I have started to save up for a set of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads. The car is drivable as it is, I just have to keep my eye on the coolant if I run it hard. If I stay out of the boost for a few months I can get all the parts together to do the heads on a weekend.

I'll then need to get that torque converter upgraded to a billet unit before I balloon the stocker and kill the engine/ tranny.

I'd like to see pics of the carPC install.

Thanks.
My car is a gravity hybrid.  The gasoline engine gets me up the hills, and gravity gets me down.

I don't have a lot of detailed pics of the install. Here's a video of it in the car. One more will show some of the trunk area, but it looks like a rat's nest right now.

It's really strange how the coolant is acting. Once I let the level in the radiator go down a couple inches it just stays there. If I try to fill it to the top it'll push a 1/2 gallon out right away.

I posted the second part of the pc vid. It's dark and doesn't show a lot except my unfinished trunk area.

The major things I did to try to have it work properly were:

1. Mount the HD receiver close to the antenna
2. Ground antenna well
3. Mount HD receiver far away from power supply
4. Power the 5 volt supply separately to ensure adequate voltage to USB devices

I also got a mother board that supported 2 serial ports so I could attach the Megasquirt and HD radio over serial. The transmission controller and wideband O2 controller are connected through serial-usb converters.

When starting up the PC system I added devices one at a time. That way I could troubleshoot and take care of any problems as they surfaced.

In this way I found that the Bluesoleil software was sh*t software that should be avoided at all costs.  It not only didn't work to connect my phone to the computer, but caused my system to bluescreen. They also refused to refund my money even though they claim a money back guarantee. Spread that word around and maybe save someone else 27 bucks.
