T-5 to T-45?

Anyone ever heard of replacing a T-5 with a T-45?  I am going to be converting my '88 Sport to manual, and have a t-45, and was wondering if there was an adapter to make this possible.  If not, I will just continue to try and find a T-5.

just go t-5 more of a bolt in. the t-45 bellhousing is a part of the trans.  and set up for a 4.6l.  you could allways get a beter desinged t-5

might not be what you wanted to hear, but you can always sell the t45 and buy a t5, or put it twards a TKO.

Yeah, I have about decided to stick with an AOD with a 4R70W gearset, and a good torque converter.

have fun with the aod. make sure you get at least a "B" overdrive servo one to start with . best would be a supercoupe and work it up from there if you really needed to.

They shift a little better, becuase of a different valve body is the only difference I can think of.  Other than that the internals are the same.  Servo springs would probably be a little different also, for shift feel.  Either way, that is not enough.  I will most likely be installing a Superior Transmission shift kit in it.  I built a trans for a friend of mine, that has 50k miles on one of their shift kits, and no problems with it, just dont drill out a hole in the front pump like they tell you to.  It creates way too much line pressure, which blows the apply lip seal for the direct clutches, and burns them up.  After I replaced the pump, and the clutches after it burnt up, it has been trouble free ever since, and can make the car bark 3rd, in a Mark8!  When you get a shift kit from Superior, they send you new heavy duty servos, and springs to replace the stock junk.

just ask Turbocoupe50 about the supercoupe trans thats in his car that hes been racing all this time.  stock for stock they are the best aod out in cars. with the clutches and A overdriver servo. and all 89+ aods got the valve body redesingnd so not to many servos in the trans

No doubt the AOD is awesome, and I have heard that some of them had an extra 2 clutches in the back, like the ones that went behind the 5.0 HO Stangs, Mark7s, and the Supercoupes.  What do you mean about the valve body getting redesigned so not too many servos in the trans?  There have always been 3 shift servos/acspoogeulators in the AOD, and the AODE, and the 4R70W.  One for 1-2 shift, one for 2-3 shift, and one big one for overdrive band apply.  The valve body directs flow to those servos/acspoogeulators.
