'86 Cougar Service Light

The service light on my digital dash for my 86 Cougar has been on for probably a year now.  It was cleared one time by a mechanic who did the oil change, but since then i have been doing my own oil changing, so it's been on to tell me i need an oil change ever since.  how do i clear it myself or what do i have to get to get it done?  any help would be great!

With the ignition key on, press and hold the "TRIP" and "RESET" buttons both at once. You should hear a couple of beeps, then the light will be reset.
