Simple solution to hidden ipod.

I hated having to feed my ipod through the isimple RF modulator in the Cougar with a cable and only being able to control it from the ipod. I was looking on line at head units and found this. http://store.sony.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=100803&storeId=20153&langId=200&productId=8198552921666086157. It is DIN and I was really hesitant to modify the dash as these pieces are not easy to replace and I had no problems with Clarion twin shaft radio that I installed years ago. Well, I took the plunge and starting tpuppies. I'm impressed with the results as now the ipod is hidden, doesn't fly around between shifts and I can control the ipod with the radio controls. Enjoy.

That is cool, man.  It's been awhile since I bought a radio, but I've never seen a hollow one like that.

What is the red light above your climate control unit?

Nice. I still wanted the option to play CD's so I ended up using a deck that had a rear USB input to control the iPod. I just ran the cable behind the dash to the glove box.

It's the light for the alarm system.

I wanted the same option so I left my 6 disc Pioneer unit in the trunk as it plays through a FM modulator that connects inline with the ant feed. You can see the control panel below the radio as well as the remote in the cup holder.

I would like to get a unit with a rear aux port for similar purposes. I don't use an mp3 player or ipod but I do listen to Rhapsody on my android so I still like to have an aux port. I have one now with a front port which is really not a big deal but I want to be able to split my aux in to have an input up front, and one in the back seat coming out of the back of the console. Which I have done, but looks like hell with a giant splitter running out of the front and then shoved in to the back of the dash plate...

That thing you've got right there is a really neat thing though if you're an ipod/iphone user.
