Chrome Trim Replacement

I want to paint my cougar soon, but my problem is that the stuipd chrome trim on my LS is torn up on the rear bumper. It is that 1/4" tall stuff that goes in the ridge of the trim. Do the autozone/pepboys/advance auto parts "chrome" trim stips fit at all?

Isn't it 1/2"?

I have no idea how to remove the stuff and my front bumper needs it (it was in an accident long ago and the chrome strip is badly damaged in one spot)...then there's a piece on the driver side fender that turned red for some odd reason
