Quick turbo "type" question, I'm new guest

I wanted to find out the type (brand name) of the turbo that came stock in the 1987 Turbo coupe.  I have had some one offer me this turbo saying it was a Garrett T3 with less than 80k miles on it for $75.  The reason he said he lowered the price in a PM to me was because he needs quick money and doesn't want to deal with the hassle of having to mail it.  If anyone has any help please shoot me an email!!!!!!!!!  I don't want to get ripped off!

He stated the condition of the turbo was good, with no shaft play and the impeller does not have shaft play.

Thanks,
Joe

The stock turbo in an '87-88 is the Borg Warner IHI. The T3 is off the 83-86's, and is the one you want. And I'd pay $75 for a T3 even if it needed a rebuild.

I was told that if I buy this Garrett T3 .63 to also get a complete CHRA and just reuse the housings and basically have a brand new turbo for less than $250.
What is a "CHRA"???

My car is a 2000 4cyl eclipse (4g64 - SOHC setup)

I was also told that if I upgrade the Garrett T3 turbo with a T4 backplate, comp wheel, and housing to make it a T3/4 hybrid and put you where you want to be powerwise (250-275 whp @ 8-10psi). The base T3 will produce about 225-250 whp @ 8-10psi.

Anyone else got any input...and by the way I appreciate anything...even if you dislike the turbo...I want to hear good or bad input on it if possible. :)

you also have to remember, the turbo is only half the battle when it comes to making power, theres guys in the turbo dodge world making 300+ whp on the Garrett T3, some guys using a DOHC neon head and 12 PSI, others using 26psi using the stock head

id get the T3, then worry about doing flow mods to the engine, thats where the most power is found
It's Gumby's fault.

The stock turbo on an 87-88TC is a Warner-Ishi  IHI RHB5.  It is NOTHING like a Garrett T-3 and and parts will not swap.......

Someone saying "you can make this much power with this turbo at this boost" is full of it.....
