I have old air shocks on the sport now I'm looking for a good upgrade for straight line traction

CHE control arms, Chuck W shock adapters, Bilstein or Koni shocks, and coil overs. None of which are parts store parts so they are not cheap. Without knowing what you are wanting to do I just took a stab at it. You need to be more clear in what you are wanting to do. If you just want to replace the shocks then some KYB's or Monroe's would work but the bigger question is why are the air shocks on the car. Usually it's due to weak springs and the air shocks bandaid that.

To clarify, the Chuck W shock adaptors allow the use of the shorter Mustang shocks on a Tbird/Cougar without negatively affecting the suspension travel. And I have a set for sale..boxed, ready to go. The coating has flaked off...they'll need blasted and painted, but they're complete, and hardware is all there.

When I had my Sport, I had 2000 Mustang GT springs, CHE arms (sold) and poly bushings and isolators all around. Ride was very firm and tight. I still have the springs, and I used Fox stang shocks (with the Chuck W adapters) and SN95 struts up front. It lowered the car about an inch...inch and half.

When you say only air shocks....are you saying there's no springs in the rear?

I would start with new shocks and new or newer used springs
I replaced these components first and was absolutely amazed the difference was from before

I can also vouch for the CHE Rear control arms, these are awesome.

My cars lowered about 1.5-2" all around
For the front:

Fox mustang struts

For the rear:
