Lounge / It's been a LONG time...
Well I tried to do my old ways of quoting a post, typing a reply, then copy paste with another quoted post. That's ten minutes I'll never get back. Not sure what happened there. So, I will just do it this way.

Haystack, Was it you that had the Cougar with the no passenger mirror option at one point? Came up in random conversation recently.

ThunderbirdSport302, Where in beautiful, currently Missouri Sea, are you? I cant remember.

Dan and Paula, Glad to hear from you guys. I appreciate the cards over the years, don't think they went unnoticed. Still sporting the wire hubcaps I hope? I'd love to make it out to Carlisle once, this year would be awesome but just not in the cards.

Vinnie, I love that hood man. Are you lowering it any this go around? How are the junkyards looking out your way? Might need some small rust free patch panels for the lower quarters. If I am lucky enough to find a car out here, it is all rotted.

Iroc, Thank you sir.

Chuck, The '83 has been a big inspiration, really glad it is still around. Do you still have family out this way? I'd love to take you out for a beer and talk Foxes. Over the years, all the knowledge I picked up from all you guys has been fading away. It would be nice to jog the memory a little. I bet you have some parts stashed away I might need down the road also.

I'm glad this place is still around. Seems like the forums are falling off due to Facebook. Which is all well and good on a social stand point. You can't ever find the information you want or need, and the stupid is on a level I can't stand. I've purposely delayed working on the Cougar for years. I bought it in '04, my first car, and I want to do it right. I did enough terrible things to it as a kid. Now I have a kid and want it to eventually turn into a Father/Son project. I've had the parts to start the motor swap a few times now, hell I have a spare now. After fixing other peopls shiznitboxes all day, everyday, it's hard to find the motivation to work on your own.

Eric, I followed your website like some follow the Bible. I was 14 when I stumbled across it the first time I think. Your car was always a huge inspiration.

Ill be more active here slowly, going to need to source parts eventually.I honestly didnt expect it to be such a ghost town. Seems like the same people, minus a few are still the active members.

Been a long time since I've logged in here, rough guess, 2013. Been through a lot of cars since then, but have managed to hold on to the Cougar through them all. Car has been in storage since 2010-11 I think. Wow, first time I've actually though about how long it's been off the road. Hopefully in the next year, if everything goes as planned it will be coming home, and work can start.

Really just wanted to stop in and say Hi to the guys that have been around long enough to remember me, and check in on a few cars/builds I remember. Curious to see whats happened with Blackjack, Chuck, fastcat, Vinny, Eric, and a few other for sure.

I actually used it while the top was down. It gets real hot sitting at a signal. :hick:

LOL, try that in a black car with one window down cause your passenger side motor doesnt like the heat, in pants and long sleeves. Going to try and fit the A/C this summer though.

Lounge / Ranger is one step closer to death by fire
Also the connector for the small plug on the crank sensor in the harness is "modified". I had to repair it. One thing I cannot figure out is why there is exposed wire in the harness for that connector or if it should be connected to that plug. This alone could be the issue but I am not sure how it should look.

Havent been around in a while but I'm kinda back in the Ford game. Bought a 91 Ranger 2.3 5speed a few months ago and I've been trying to get it right ever since. I'm out of ideas. It has a miss I can't figure out.

So far I've done plugs, wire, coil packs, DIS/ICM, crank sensor, and  timing belt. The tach was jumpy when I bought it and it missed randomly. Once it started missing all the time the tach reads between 600-3000 full range. After I threw all the parts at it it runs better but not right and the tach still isn't correct.

I've tried another computer and no change. At this point I'm thinking there is an issue in the harness.

I know a lot of you guys have years of experience with these 2.3s and just wondered if you had any ideas.
