Kerry's now behind by only 7 electoral votes, up from ~50 behind an hour ago

edit:
well looks like bush got 5 more votes. I'm sure new mexico will go for bush also, they just fit in with all the other states who voted for bush betwen the west coast and the northeast. Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio look to be the last ones we're waiting on

I had a bad feeling when I heard that support for Bush went UP after the bin Laden video.. that made me remember that the population at large really isn't all that bright.

People act like this has protected us from terrorism. He hasn't done jack, except for anger millions of new potential terrorists.. but since those operations take time to set up, HE won't have to worry about it.. most of the backlash won't happen on his watch. We weren't exactly swimming in terrorists pre-Bush, and we've only had one attack since he took office. BIG DEAL. That has nothing to do with anything he's done.

The Bush family is interested solely in their own wallets. That's why Prescott Bush (Dumbya's grandfather) laundered money for the puppiess. That's why much of their family has been involved in stuff like savings and loan scandals. That's why Neil Bush pulls a $2 million a year "consulting fee" from the Chinese government in something he has pretty much no experience doing, which only came out in public because of his divorce proceedings. That's why Jeb Bush runs scams down here to funnel money made by school fundraising drives into Texas software companies run by other Bush family members.. and why he writes unusual long-term contracts for the state food service jobs, for stuff like supplying prisons with meals, when his wife's involved with the company getting the unusual contract. The Bush family is one big group con-job on the American people. I'm not exactly a patriotic sort of person, but in all honesty, I view blind support of Bush to be downright un-American.

The sad thing is, aside from NOT being a member of the Bush family, which is a credit in my book, I don't see Kerry as being any better.. or I'd have considered voting for him. But at least with Kerry, he'd have had a Repugnant congress in place to stonewall him on just about anything significantly bad he tried.. so he wouldn't have been able to do much damage. Now, with Bush around again, who knows how far they'll run this country further into the ground with stuff like Patriot Act 2 and more wars. (just wait until we go after Iran.. and Iran starts using the Sunburn missile, that they're supposedly trying to acquire from the Russians, in retaliation.. look it up sometime.. a supersonic anti-ship missile that makes the Exocet look like a bottle rocket, can carry up to a nuclear payload, and is virtually impossible for current shipboard missile defenses to stop)

I voted my conscience, and voted Libertarian. Not liberal.. that's in the White House, pretending to be a conservative. (he sure spends like a liberal) Fat lot of good that conscience will do for me when the really hits the fan in this country.

BTW, if you think this was written out of any significant amount of anger, you should see the angry parts I erased before hitting Quick Reply. :D

On, but off, topic:

I'm still sitting here buttstuffyzing what I posted.. wondering, am I angry right now? I mean, I know at least one person will read the above post and accuse me of being angry. Then I think just how exhausted I am at the moment. I really don't have the energy to be angry. Those first 20-30 miles or so, where the tow dolly started wagging badly four or five different times, (two of those times with my friend going "oh my god we're gonna flip") were probably some of the scariest of my life. I've never been in a vehicle that was unintentionally out of control (I did crazy  in my teens.. getting small cars airborne on dirt mounds, etc.) for more than the briefest of moments. Never driven on ice.. never even really hydroplaned more than briefly. Got t-boned once at about 20-25 mph and spun 180, but that only lasted a second. Never flipped or landed in a ditch or anything like that, as far back as I can remember. (to back before I even drove.. believe me, I had plenty of time to dig back to my childhood and wonder if I had ever been in such a situation)

Why on, but off, topic? Because I'm too drained to have many real feelings over the election, aside from what I said above. Amusingly, the election probably happened at the best time for me, when I was really distracted with other stuff. (we didn't even have the radio on, in the truck) I probably would've been very angry if I had sat here all night watching things unfold.

Oh well.. in the end, I view either of the most likely outcomes to be a loss.

At least I got back home in one piece.. although I'm still pretty tense from the ride back.. and my ulcer flared up again. I will NEVER have a car towed by a tow dolly again.

(the last line of the previous post was a joke, BTW.. I didn't really erase a hell of a lot.. it just sounded good at the time.. I needed a laugh, even if I was being a dork and laughing at my own humor)  :wtf: :hick:

Well so far our grassroots poll shows Kerry a clear winner but CNN would suggest otherwise. Right now Bush has 254 votes and Kerry has 252, or something like that (CNN is on a commercial right now so not sure of the exact figures, I just know it's only a two vote difference)

Bird351 - you've never driven on ice? You don't know what you're missing! There's nothing quite like hitting the brakes and having the car instantly change direction by 180 degrees, then sliding arse-first through a stop sign while hoping like hell that nothing is coming, and finally coming to a stop and enjoying that micro-moment of relief of not being hit, only to realize that the guy that was behind you ain't gonna stop either...

Tow dollys are fine for towing FWD vehicles. I use the Auto Transported from U-haul for towing RWD vehicles. It has to do with weight distribution.

Since I'm not from the States I don't have a vote, but if I did, Bush would not get it.

First off, I think the extreme price we are paying now for oil is because of the previous 4 years of Bush government. It seems like every time to Bush government made an announcement the next day the price of oil went up; "we're going to war in Afganastan" - oil went up, "we're going to war in Iraq" - oil went up, "there's been a hurrican in Florida and the refineries are not producing fuel" - oil went up... Bush must be making money of the high price of oil. I can't prove any of it but it does make me apprensive.

Second, and the biggest reason i would not vote for Bush is his stand on Stem Cell Research. As some of you know, I'm in a wheelchair and have been for almost 21 years as a result of a MVA when I was 15. Stem Cell Research offers the best chance of me ever walking again. Bush's stand on SCR will setback the chance of a cure for paraplegia, and a lot of other health issues, 10 to 15 years.

"Baby killer" That is not even a issue! It womens rights to chose and as one I feel I deserve that right. If a womans life is in danger she should be allowed to save herself.

"sportsmen for Bush" I didnt see Bush out hunting but I did see a video of Kerry out there hunting. Democrats are Not out to take your guns!

Probly Bush will win.....I wish people would vote on who would make a better president not on stereo types. I dont think the Bush campaine should have declared victory yet it was a wrong thing to do and I hope more that anything Kerry makes him look like and ass infront of the whole country!
You know when I was in middle school they had a little fake school vote and I voted republican cuz one of my friends told me democrats are baby killers.

NOT meant to make anyone mad!!!!! :p

I hope Kerry wins, but I think it'll be Bush, even though most of the votes have come in. I think so because there's a war going on. You don't change leadership when you're at war. Plus, I believe Bush will finish the job in Iraq (somewhere I don't believe he belongs anyway) a lot quicker than Kerry. I see Kerry pulling out either before it's finished or slowing the effort and dragging the whole war out longer than needed.

Plus, Kerry has no intrest in opening the borders to Canadian trade at all.

Bush. Anyone who says Kerry "misunderestimates" the redneck/hick/cowboy wannabe/NRA factor in America.  There's ALOT of them!  (i'm looking at you jkirchman!)

I kid, I kid. But yea, Bush.

Oh come now Andrew.  I am a redHEAD, not a redNECK.

I am interested in how you came to have that opinion of me...

Bush-Cheney 2008!  Repeal that stupid 22nd amendment!  Maybe with Jeb and some others we can keep the Bush's in the White House for 20 years!

Are you TRYING to make me ill..? :barf:

It wouldn't surprise me, honestly. From what I hear, Clinton spent a LOT of time on the phone at the end of his 2nd term, trying to find possible loopholes that would allow him to remain. No reason why this puke wouldn't try the same thing.. except this one has four years to put into place more rules for suspending elections based on "terrorism".

I'm as sick and tired of it as you are.  I was being REALLY sarcastic.  I've heard there's real talk of repealing the 22nd amendment (2-term limit on a single president) :dunno:
