Mustang Shift Cable?

Well as we were preparing for my HO swap into my sport coupe we discovered that unfortunately the shift cable my brother in law paid $160 for last year was up against the exhaust and has melted the casing down to the metal. So I was just wondering what the difference is between the mustang shift cable and the floor shift T-bird cable? I really dont want to spend that kind of money for a shift cable so i was just looking for another option when i do have to replace the cable.
Thanks
Andrew

you should be able to get a good adjustable cable for like 40-60 bucks for that...160 sounds like way too much. ive got a used non adjustable stock style ford (i think) cable that works fine. you can have it for $5 plus shipping...i dont need it.

EDIT...for some reason i thought you meant for a stick car and it melted on the header...im an idiot..sorry

The Mustang cable is different.I've tried one,and a Turbo-Coupe cable,and nothing works right.Only the 5.0 T-Bird/Cougar cable.

Are there any other options that dont use the stock cable? I saw on summit that the Hammer shifter uses the stock cable? I guess i will see what happens and decide when it goes bad. Thanks
