Lounge / shagiest Car ever
Ok in Thunder Chickens "Money no Object" thread I found myself at a loss. he states
"The only rule: You must do it to a fox Bird or Cat, preferably the car you have now."

Sorry all you die hard Fox bod lovers but for me if "Money was no Object" then the only thing I would "Do To" the Bird I have now is I'd leave it laying along side the road someplace with the title in the glove box and post the address here for you guys to help yourselves.

So to not break his rule.. a new free for all thread “IF Money was no Object”

THIS is what I’m talking about.. this thing is so shagy I get a woody just looking at the pictures of it. Actually shagy is an uderstatement this would be better than shag. At a modest $450,000 each I would get two because at 617hp and a modest 575 lb-ft torque I’d probably wreck the first one.

Electrical Tech / 1988 T-Bird Tail Light Harness
Where does it plug into the rest of the system?
I want to butcher on my tail light wires a bit and would prefer to grab another harness off that TC in the U-Pull-It, and do it off the car then swap them.  but if it's a pain to get it out I'll just chop into mine.

"Then we went into the eighty's and we were stuck with , ahhh, incredibly boring cars..."

Right at that exact moment the Video jumps to ...

Lounge / Women Shouldent own Turbo Coupes?
Ok I should be working on my house right now, But I can’t resist stirring the “kettle of enlightenment” on this subject.

In this thread
http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=14494
I mentioned purchasing a TC for a daughter
From a generic car buyer (not a bird enthusiast) like looking for a car for my teenage daughter.....”
and got this comment…

Daboss351:
and who in there right mind is gonna look at a car running 19 psi of boost for there daughter! unless they wanted her to crash! not to mention its a stick!”

Where I responded with info on the Force Daughters.. That was followed by another comment..

DakotaEpic:
“Dude, the Force daughters are hot. Lol and Hell, I'd say they probably didn't have the typical upbringing that most daughters get when it comes to cars. We have a person at work who bought their daughter an Audi RS6 for her 16th, and about 4 months after she got it drove it into a ditch because she lost control of it.... not saying that a daughter can't own a fast car, just saying that they probably shouldn't just be handed one before being taught how it handles and whatnot.”

Now for the sake of not jacking Ether947’s thread I would like to continue this conversation here.

Excuse me gentlemen but you are both TOTALLY out of line on this!

As the father of two boys ages 21 and 24 and also a daughter age 19. I would hand a high horsepower car over to my daughter in a second before I would either the boys.
You imply that boys are ‘taught” to handle high horsepower cars and girls are not, you imply girls can’t drive a stick, you imply that a girl given a high horsepower car will run it off in ditch because she will loose control of it.
LOL your INSANE!!! :flip:

My daughter is 100% more reliable, has a TOTALLY more sensible head on her shoulders. Has never had even a fender bender. She drives a stick (possibly daughters in your area don’t have Left feet to push clutches or right hands to operate stick shift’s but here in Washington most do!) My daughter would have the sense to respect the horsepower, she wouldn’t have the EGO that would require her to flaunt her testosterone all over the street and drive like an idiot. And this reflects in Insurance cost. Check the cost of insurance for this car for a straight A Female of 19 years old and compare it to C average boy of the same age… the boy will cost close to TWICE as much, and for a REASON!!

Boys are egotistical little maniacs that THINK they know everything about cars and THINK they are better drivers because they, well… They have a pen 15!
I WAS one in my 20’s and I RAISED two more! My 21 year old son took his brand new ranger out and I guess he didn’t realize that snow was slippery (suppose MY fault, I forgot to tell him that) and slid off the freeway at 60mph in the snow. And there isn’t a female bone in his over inflated, macho, "man " sporting testosterone pumping body! My other son has already wiped out his hot rod German built Dodge Neon in a 120 mph broadside down the Autobahn because well he can do it because he’s has a pen 15!!!

Chill your testosterone gentlemen and look at it not for what your ego WANT's (or your pen 15!) but for what REALITY is!!

Misc Tech / Click!
Ok, I can’t ignore it any longer. It IS happening and it IS driving me crazy. Ever since I did all the work on my Bird it has had a “click” noise.
A description of the “click”
The first time I heard it I I had just shut the car off and “click” I thought my window had cracked. Like having a rock chip that finally shoots accost the window as a crack. THAT kind of click. Like if you were to take a wooden chopstick and drop it end first on something solid “click”.

I checked all the windows, nothing, no chip, crack, nothing. Shrugged it off and figured I was hearing things.

Then I heard it again “click”, :wtf: and now it’s virtually EVERY time I stop and shut the car off I hear one single lone “click” :wtf: usually from over my left shoulder but just now coming back from lunch, I shut it off and “click” :wtf: from in front of me to the passenger side, like the windshield area.

This is not a cracked window as it’s been going on for over a week “click” (while I try to ignore it “click” , assume I’m imagining “click” it) if it was a window cracking it would be falling out by now.

I do not hear it while moving the car. (Earlier today it was as I walked away I was 3-5 feet from the car “click”)
I hear it almost 100% of the time after I shut the car off 10-15 seconds and then “click”.
I can’t recall hearing it at any stop lights.
I HAVE heard it while pulling away from the curb “click”.

Is driving me “click” crazy!!

Recent work done to the car.

8.8 rear with 5 lug.
New wheels, Tires, Lugs and Locks.
91 Mustang spindles with Lincoln 5 lug.
Mustang Gas KYB Shocks and 91 GT springs (2” drop at least)
Mustang Gas KYB Struts.
New calipers rotors all around.
New Master Cylinder
TC Rear sway bar.
Lincoln E-brake cable.

Any Ideas what might cause a “click” ?

Body/Appearance/Interior / full digital from a sport
I found a 85 Sport (? 5.0 Black Trim, assuming sport from there) being parted that has a full digital dash. From what I gather using the search here this dash fit into my 88 (digital Speedo only that ya can’t read) BUT would require some wiring adapting and worse than that changing a mess of sensors. (However the car probably has all the sensors, appeared pretty complete still.
Not so sure I’m willing to go through all that.

Am I correct about what it would take to swap this with mine?

Lounge / Living in Fast Forward
Up at the home site yesterday where I was getting the framers of and framing when I got a bit of a sharp pain in my chest. First about 11 am, then again about 1pm. Short sharp and quick, kind of shrugged it off.
Later on the way home down the freeway was a different story several times very sharp and lasting up to 2 minutes at a time with no more than 3 minutes between them. Drove straight to the emergency room where they stabbed, poked, took blood by the handfuls, kept me overnight in a hard bed then starved me and tried to kill me on a treadmill this morning.
They didn’t find anything wrong but an ongoing odd beat with my heart (they say not that uncommon) and a bit of high cholesterol, and I did take an extremely long time for my heart rate to recover after the bought with that  treadmill. I assume that’s due to just quitting smoking 6 days ago after 25 years of 1.5 to 2 packs a day.

Why am I telling this?
Hell I dunno, seems I’m fine,  we will know more after a follow up with my family doctor.
Maybe in hopes some of you may see that it’s never too soon to start taking care of yourself. I’m only 47 years old and wish I had quit smoking and living the wild life that I have YEARS ago. Or better yet, never started. Life is much to short to waste it away on neon light’s fast women and cheep easy thrills. How does that song go…

The Body’s a temple, least that’s what were taught.
But I’ve treated this one like an old honky-tonk.
Greasy cheese burgers and cheep cigarettes.
There going to get me if they ain’t got me yet.

Drivetrain Tech / Automatic Turbo Coupe 123O
I found a TC with an auto floor shift and the gears read 123ONRP

I think the car is an 87 or 88

Any idea what tranny that would be?
Would that tranny handel a 5.0 HO and is it any better than an AOD?

Drivetrain Tech / Master for 4-Wheel Disk
I’m having trouble finding a Master Cylinder to work for my setup.
I have 91 Mustang front disks and 84 Mark VII rear disks.
Cobra master is what I have been looking for yet my parts man can’t find it, I just got off the phone with Max at 5-star ford and he tells me they have been discontinued and are “no longer available”.
I hit the U-Pull-It yesterday looking for something that might work and came up empty.

Any Ideas what I could use?

Suspension/Steering / Mustang Swaybar and springs
I did a search and didn’t find anything on it.

Will a 91 Mustang Front Sway bar fit on an 88 T-Bird?

What about Mustang springs front and rear? Would those fit giving a drop in ride height? Basically Lowering the car? And if so, how much drop?
