Electrical Tech / Light on Dashboard - BRAKE - no brake lights
88 Tbird Turbocoupe

I've been spending the past 4 days cleaning up my Frankenstein car that some kid thought he could wire himself with solder and s wire.
I finally got done fixing the turn signal wire he chewed up and now I am trying to figure out why BRAKE light is on, on my dash and that none of my brake lights work now, I was hoping to get the car inspected today, but this is holding me back.

Checked #1 fuse, looks fine.
My parking brake does have like 2 inches of slack when its all the way up though. Although I don't think that would cause my brake lights to not work.
If I need to swap out a part, I have a whole parts car at my disposal so let me know.

Thanks.

Body/Appearance/Interior / 93 Tbird LX 5.0 HO - New changes
Hey all,

What you guys think of these changes, you can see how it was in my other thread.

I tinted the windows, removed the V8 badge from the side, replaced it with new mustang 5.0 badge, Added side skirts, and rear ground effects from SuperCoupe, painted outside of rims black while keeping the silver middle intact.

Thanks,
-Matt

Engine Tech / 93 Tbird 5.0 HO overheats with A/C on
Car runs perfectly cool as long as you do not turn on the A/C.

It runs at just before the N of NORM on the temp gauge when I have the A/C off, if I turn on the A/C, the temp rises and rises until I turn it off, then goes back to its normal area.

I just changed the thermostat because I think this problem was T-Stat related. overflow was empty earlier from leaking out because i didn't torque the bolts to their specs, but I have fixed that now, and refilled the overflow bottle.

When the Fan clutch engages, is the wind noise under the hood suppose to be loud like on the 80's v8s, or is it generally quiet. Because I see the fan moving, and when I hear it engage, the noise never gets louder.

I may have a bad fan clutch, because under normal driving conditions, it doesn't need to engage the fan, but with the AC on it probably needs it, and cant engage cause of bad clutch.. So what do you guys think it is?

Engine Tech / 5.0 HO running hot
message center says Low Radiator

I checked the radiator cold and overflow while it was cold, overflow was way passed cold full line, and radiator was topped all the way to the top of the cap and spilled out a little when I opened it, the car runs like new but this radiator problem I think is making it run hot some how, I was on my way home just now and saw the needle climbing and was like.. What the heck..? it climbed very slowly, and while i was turning onto my street, it was just about to go to the H on the temp gauge.

Thanks.
Anyone ever have this problem before and what did you do to fix it.

I'm thinking it might be the thermostat, because the previous owner had just changed the radiator hoses and radiator, and maybe they put it in backwards(probably not, my 88 TC only can go in one way), or didn't change it at all, and now it's stuck in the closed position and cant allow flow of coolant to the engine.

User Rides / My new 93 Tbird LX 5.0 HO
72k Original Miles, 68k on ODO, gotta change the gear..

had a tune up before I bought it, new tires, radiator, radiator hoses, distributor, cap/rotor, oil always synthetic, new brakes all around.

After market Alpine radio, great sound system, clean sound, no pops or tearing.

Owned by 2 older people who couldn't handle 3 cars anymore, always had a towel on the backseat.

2 Owner car the first owner was a ford dealer that kept it as a loaner til 32k miles, full service records, always taken care of by previous owner, paint needs polishing, motor purrs like new, shifts like a dream..

Cleaned the engine bay the other day after I got the car the previous night, Washed it, used clay bar system, waxed it, leather cleaner, and conditioned, vacuumed with a high power vacuum.
Ice cold A/C even on 67 setting, even colder at 60, heat works, turns on a dime for a wider T-bird, better than my 88 Turbo Coupe.

Anyway.. here's all the pics, Enjoy!

Electrical Tech / Headlight adjusting screw? Does it exist
My driver side headlamp is facing way low compared to the passenger, is there a screw or something to adjust the inside of the housing? Or did the previous owner put the bulb in half way..

Also I'm thinking about upgrading to SilverStar-Ultras, good idea?

User Rides / 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe
Thought I posted in here already.. But here you guys go.

This is my 1988 Thunderbird T/C that I got for $750 dollars, that was in worse condition than how I have it now.

The engine bay was disgusting, the interior was missing pieces and apart... It currently has 181k Miles but doesn't feel like it.. other than the auto-ride not working on the bad shocks.

The driver seat was cracked in half and wouldn't stay up in the upright position. It was also missing its middle arm rest, but a member on here found me one on eBay.

It has a cat-back mandrel bent single pipe exhaust system.. So no more dual exhaust.

It has some clear coat spots missing hear and there, like on the fenders, sail panels, bumper.

The side on the driver-side was sed by who knows what and needs body work, but you cant notice it unless you are close to it.

It had cheap tint on it too when I got it, but that's long gone since I got it.

The parts it needs are; New shocks/struts, a passenger power window motor gear, 2 rear tires (came with 2 brand new front ones), and new light-bulbs here and there.. and the obvious turbo coupe side door badges.

Oh and my front right turn signal has a loose wire somewhere, because it only works some of the time..

Here's a link to the album.

Electrical Tech / Chime box
Where is the chime box located that chimes when the door is open with the key in, or the headlights are on.. I can barely hear mine, it's very faint.

Thanks

Body/Appearance/Interior / $6 Headlight Cleaning, Turn Yellow to Clear!
Do your headlights look like this..?

First, go to your local auto parts store and pick up a bottle of Super Clean "Foaming".

Next, Park your bird in the shade.

Then, spray the headlight generously with the cleaner, let sit for 30 seconds, rinse off with clean water.

Now, dry them off and they should look like this..

Heres my side by side comparison,

Enjoy having clear headlights again.

Thanks for reading my guide.

User Rides / 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe
This 1988 Turbo Coupe has every option available minus the sunroof, leather, door unlock keypad, and cornering lights.

Got this a little while ago for $750, been working on it for last 2 weeks.
When I got it, the engine bay was dirty like it had never been cleaned.

I started cleaning it and looks like the dirt preserved the shine of everything.

Most recently I took off the valve cover which seems to have been the original gasket, since it was like opening an egyptian tomb.. gonna finish that today.

Heres the only pic I have at the moment, but more will definitely come.

Missing the turbo coupe door emblems if anyone has any spares, let me know what you would like for them.
I have a whole other parts car with other parts, that I possibly don't need on mine, so maybe we can make a trade.
