cougar shuts off

My Cougar shuts off sometimes while im driving at 10 to 15mph or when Im on a stop light, but the only time it does it is when the car is cold, when I hit the highway and then go to the traffic jams it works ok, I took the car to the mechanic and he checked for any code but everything is ok so can any one help here
