Howdy, long time since I've had to post anything. All of a sudden my door panels are leaching red colorant, it's the strangest thing. I've had this car for 11 years now and never an issue until this year. So, I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has had this issue and just what to do about it. I'm thinking I'll just clean the door panels (it's actually the portion that supports the armrest horizontal and then swoops up to hold the door lock switches) with soap and water and hope for the best.
I really enjoyed the show as well. I took my boys there in my Turbo Coupe and it was neat to finally be at a show that had many cars like what I've owned. I'm still partial to the foxes and especially the 4-eyes, but there are days I miss my 89 XR7. That day was one of them.
I haven't been on here in awhile...I missed a couple PMs, I'm going to try to dig up my consoles sometime in the next week. I'll post pictures then. Sorry for the mega delay, and even if the interest is gone I'll at least visit what I have again!
fordguy545, awesome runs at the Dome last weekend. I love your car (of course). I hope my fellow DET Region Folks were good hosts for you. (I haven't run AutoCross with them, but many of the same people do Ice Runs, RallyCross, and PAX Track Events....Those I have done.)
Hmmm, come to think of it, I also have a Traction-Lok that is in near new condition sitting amongst my inside stored TC and XR7 stuff. That one would cost more, but I don't know what a fair price is. $120 sounds reasonable, but imagine this is out of your needs range as you indicated you didn't care about clutch condition, and an 8.8 likely can be found for near that kind of money.
I have an '85 TC Stock 7.5 Axle Assembly (3.45 Trac-Lok) sitting outside (mostly covered) right now. After I pull the control arms and shocks you could have the whole thing for $50. To the best of my knowledge it has just over 100K. Mine is not mint, and I'll likely break my current 7.5 and need it, but I'd also like to help a fellow Michigander out!
That car was on CL here (Detroit CL) and out of Plymouth Michigan for 3 years in a row and I think the asking price was always $7500. It was an older guy that owned it. I talked to him on the phone once about it. He had all of parts to put it back to original when it was last for sale by him (including the 10 holes that may be the actual 10 holes in the picture; when it was for sale here it had chrome rims of some sort on it to really set off the graphics!), so it is possible that those factory pieces would come with it.
I finally put the newer overflow on. The mounting bracket is about 1.5 inches deeper (wider cross-car), and is offset about a .5 inches further inboard than the old setup. So, basically in the new setup I gained a little clearance between the battery and overflow (I wonder why they did this in 86? Or perhaps my car had a 2.3 Mustang Overflow all-along?), but the whole setup is closer to the fans. Some other differences are the new one I received no longer used a single-screw hooked-band to hold it to the bracket. Instead it uses 2 mounting screws and therefore has smaller holes in the plastic than the early band style did.
Most importantly it appears to not be cracked, and the mounting bracket did indeed bolt right up using the same mounting pattern! (Thanks again Jay!)
