what is the resale value of a 1985 Tbird fully equipped (everything is in), floor automatic shifter, rear louver, 16in snowflakes, 1.5" rear stab bar, turbocoupe hood, air conditioning (ATC), brans new 3.8/232ci carbed (not tbi) engine, 7.5 rear axle, mint body, canadian car, body has around 55.000 miles original.
It's My Bird, I ask ONLY cauz I'm curious of the value of My car, But I NEVER NEVER sold.
It's just cau'z I was very very busy this last summer.
One cause it's because I purchased for "nothing" a little 1991 Firefly AUTOMATIC (HUH), changed the little 3 banger in for a 1997 fresh one, completely redone the body, ect, ect, painted SUNNY YELLOW yesss, ans 2-3 weeks ago swapped the auto trans for a 5 speed trans .
I always hates these puppies cars, BUT it really quick for the engine, extremely economicsl (around 50mpg), and surprising cargo space.
I purchased another one, I'll "renew" like the fly, another 1991 3 banger, 5 speed original.
With the recent raise gas price I decided to store the bird in the garage for around 2 years, and pull out for his 25 years in 2010 for the fest of a friend in late august of each years.
Last year (last august) I was here with My Firafly automatic ( at this time), I guess I was the most see car heheheh.
Next week I'll put in the garage with a dust cover for over a year, I'm not glad to make this, but when I''ll restart I'll guess I'll happy a lot.
In april I earned on the tv the fuel (gaz) will raise up to $2.00 liter (nesr $9.00 gallon us), and when you hear that, generally it comes to this price (long time/short time).
At this moment I see My big Econoline truck and asked in my mind "how I run again this truck the next winter", Just started to see any alternative to this truck...
The next week a friend of Me blown the engine on his 1991 Pontiac Firefly, not in great shape, VERY NOT, but it donated to Me.
I purchased a good engine for a couples of bucks at friend junkyard, the engine have 140.000km (90.000 ,iles), and the enginne was a great compression of 180 psi on each cylinders (1998 engine).
I putted this 3 cylinders on the car and started droving it, compared to My truck or My Bird it was very VERY little, but economical on gaz a LOT (993cc/61ci it's normal), and after a couple of week I loved it, funny to drive, ect, ect.
When I acquirad the door fall off each time opening (rusted at the hinges), and the left side rocker panel vas cutted by the rust, tus caused the cas drop 3/4" inches on the driver side.
I decided to hunt the junkyards, and found ONE GEO METRO with a good rocker (in and out) and a good floor, For a short history, I cutted this at the junkyard and re-weldes on My car.
Bla and bla bla!, after changed the hood, the rear hatchback door, and the driver door as well, I finished the body, cauz the whole car was not very rusted, and 3 weeks ago I painted in YELLOW (the car was light blue).
The car is like a TONKA, I added a OEM foam rear upper spoiler, and that's it, for the interior of the car it was very very dusty, but VERY DUSTY, totally s.
I found a 1989 Sprint (same interior, same everything), and changed the whole interior, dash included, a big job but I guess this car is a real value for Me (I know the rest of the car cauz I always do the maintenance on this car), and the big thing, the front frame of this "McNugget" (heheheh) are completely rust free, rare on these models.
I'll post a couple of pics soon, sorry I don't have pics during the rebuilt, too busy to take a pics when I worked on...
Finally My E150 (1 Ton modded) I drove to the syard for 500$, The truck was great, and totally okay, but too expensive to run, and anyway, I currently dont have a use for...
I'm just only a "Quebecker" from Canada and I need to say in Quebec we are the first around the world using the 735kv lines, ans have the biggest electric dam in the world, if You don't trust Me COME HERE!!! You'll never see a gigantic like one I ask...
I dont write this to make Me or My people better than other ones, But I'm proud of the electric power We have...
I just found the ONLY picture of My Mercury Cyclone 1970 I totaled in 2000, this picture was taken a week when the insurance evaluator come to My home to evaluate de damages, ant this pics taked with his Polaroid sun 600 was a bit out of focus, and too much reflect of the brick of the home on the hood, the evaluator donated to me this pic.
OOPS!, I missed to write this: The accident in summer 1985, I washiznitted in a driver door by a stupid guy with a "rustang" not stopped on a red light
The picture is bad a lot, it's because I keeped this picture around 10 years in My wallet, and I just found in a drawer of My desk.
I personnaly taked a lot of pics with My 35mm when I was in amateur photo, but all was destroyed and My negatives was stolen in 1990.
The engine in this car was a 429 4V (4400 FoMoCo), C6 modded trans, 2.73:1 rear axle, this engine was a beast 450HP of PURE power...
Anything, anytime, anywhere, I just sad don't have this car today to PLAY with the tiny ricer :hick:
Do You remember the Ford Econoline (I guess E150) called DeniMachine the pen 15e company was special ordered for the "winning prize" in the 70's.
These Econoline was full clothed with jeans material, I just remember this and I don't know if anyone here remember this, I was have around 12-13years whhen this happens.
LOng time no see You,I'm back and this time is for a bit of time, efter a bit of justice problems, I'm really back, all troubles cleaned, and the most recent too...
Just a few info on the Bird I have...
Recently I found a rear louver for 100$ CDN (1987-88 modded one), not perfect and need a good refinishing before I fit on My car, but is a good deal anyway.
And I g finally found a 16" snowflakes near Me, for 50$ with tires (225-60r16) 70% threads, what a deal!!!!, more, this rims/tires still on the PAC 6 months ago, I don't understand why is never sold before..
In a 2-3 weeks I'll install My dual exhaust, I'll purchase a little pipe bender for 150$ and another tail pipe/ler, and a couple of straight pipes to bent for made a perfect fit...
The rest is a little ziggy ziggy around the car... :)
When I pulled out the bird of the basp00get garage I slipped on a bit of ice and &%(()_ My back (again), after that I was so lazy on the net and lot of things...
But today I decided to bring bach here, and for the guy's see My Bird winter work, don't worry, I have two pics in My cam just taked when the Bird was out, and I'll post in a couple of days...
Now I'll work on My Ford van, need a little bodywork, and a crankshaft insert job, (oil pump as well), normal for a 300k Miles inline 300ci ;-)
Yesterday and today it 34celcius out there, and very very high dew, tomorrow around 24C (73-/4) what the hell?!!!
I'll put the Bird out of the garage this Friday, I'll post a pics of this fresh painted "" here as well...
But I have a little question, the bird is dark blue metallic, and I like the chrome grill on a dark car, but My grill chrome is a little bit faded, but clean, I have another 1985 grille purchased on ebay last year don't look clean, faded a lot, ect...
I want to try to paint this grille, I have a couple of idea, such as.
Outside same color of the car, center trim black (same as the hood traps).
MIne have a 3.8 CARBED (old carb with fuel pump activated by the cam), and I rebuilted last Year, and looooooooove it, very not a great performer, but It not a fuel hangry.
I noticed all of Your nhate this 3.8l, it's a good engine (except head gasket issue), strong little engine, reliable and so fast for a 120HP engine...
I owned a bigger and faster engine/cars over the years, and I like this little (V6)...
But My next Bird (86) will be gaved with a 351C :hick:
