Even though I haven't done nearly as much work on mine as many of you have, I know what you mean.

Saw the previous owner of my Bird the other day.. so she had to visit with her old car. She was surprised at how much better it looked once I had covered up the rust and cleaned up the interior and what not.

A close friend had originally wanted to buy the Bird from her.. but his wife told him he couldn't, because she thought it was in really bad shape. Now, the last time she saw the car she said she couldn't even recognize it. She might even be regretting that decision, since the car he got from me has needed a lot of work as well. (it sat for a very long time with little use)

Seeing and hearing about their reactions has made me feel pretty good about putting that work into the car.. on top of how I've already felt about the whole experience. Now I'm ready to get this second Bird here and fix it up, and wow the previous owner when I send him pictures of the progress a year or two from now. (since that one's going to take more time and effort to clean up)

The green stuff was filler and the black stuff was primer.

Yep, I got the lx cover that was on there painted, but had a t/c bumper cover. I didn't know which I wanted to end up with, so I had both sprayed.

8 months after paint this happened http://www.crystalbeckvold.com/tbird/accident so luckily I used the t/c bumper cover as my replacement. The header panel needs replacing as well, there's a good sized chunk missing, but the light hides the damage. so now the car looks like this http://www.crystalbeckvold.com/tbird

New Hood, wheels, etc. coming this winter
