would 02 GT axles be compatible with TC 8.8's?

ok, apparently not.. but someone on 4EP said 94-98 7.5 axles will work in my 8.8.. sounds a bit fishy, but is he right?

There's always the axle chart here...

But the fast answer is yes. 94-98 7.5 and 8.8 axles are identical, except for the ABS exciter rings, in that some had them, some didn't.

Need a pair? I've got some I don't need....

HMMMMPH.. i just read something there that sparked some interest in my simple little mind.. if i used ranger axles with mark VII rotors, i could simply put a wheel spacer BEHIND the rotor, to give it the spacing needed to work with the 8.8's stock caliper mounts.. am i just tired, or does this make sense to you guys, as well?

or weld up some brackets to mount the caliper where you want....

I just finished up my swap.  I had 02 axles(by accident), and they are an 1" too long.  I then got a pair from a 97 Mustang and they fit perfect.  I redrilled the stock rotors and had the hub bored a tad to fit the bigger mustang hub.  The stock TC brakes hooked right back up.

going to grab a mark 7 rotor from the local mom and pop parts store and go that route.. i sped all my 4 lug stuff (sans axles, don't want to leave my housing exposed) so it would be completely stupid to go back to 4 lug.. lol wonder how explorer disks would work out.. may grab 1 just to see, then return it if the mark rotor works out better

I *think* the Explorer rotors are too large in diameter, but hell, I don't know squat about those. A simple 'net lookup would determine that. Something probably isn't so good about them though, because I've never heard of their being used.

The Mark rotors have a different "hat" depth than TC rotors, so you'll have to fab new caliper brackets for those. Since I already have the SN95 axles, I may keep them, and do as lakenheath did with the TC rotors.

wonder if the mark rotors are more shallow or deeper than the TC rotors.. would be funny if they were perfect for the ranger axles lol

The Explorers have their emergency brakes inside the hat area using tiny little pads (mini pads, not the larger maxi pads).

Here is what you need to know, the SN95 axles (V6 or GT) are the same from 94-98 and these are the ones you need for your car to keep the stock track width.  From here the brake selection is pretty broad so my suggestion is to visit Matt's site and read up as you are going down a road that has been gone down and if it was easy or just took some small mods the guys on the Mustang sites would have been all over it.

You need to realize that the conversions on here are for a Fox Mustang but if you just keep the SN95 track width in the back you are good to go.
