Electrical Tech / Digital Dash Question

Hi everyone

So my 87 xr7 is having an issue with the fuel digital dash section. It reads "U" !!!!

I talked with Eric of CoolCats and he was awesome and said it is probably the sending unit but was not sure as he never heard of the dash reading "U". Has anyone here ever experienced this same issue? I have already purchased the entire fuel pump but was curious if the community on this site could offer any words of wisdom?

This is my car a 1987 Mercury Cougar XR-7! It's been a year in the making and I really hope that my son enjoys it for his 16th birthday! I had a very similar car when I was in high school and I wanted to continue on the tradition. This one has a new paint job with zero rust! Only 46k original miles/leather/new stereo/factory rims

I would love any comments/feedback or questions anyone my have 🙂
