Title: Hood release repair
Post by: bq93 on October 18, 2004, 02:32:23 PM
My hood release is still broken, and before I pull the fender off to try and fix it I thought I would see if anyone could help me with this.

I’ve heard that some have tried a different fix since the new hood release will be just as weak as the old one.  I’ve heard of a repair that involves shaving the rest of the broken plastic off of the handle bracket and reattaching it to the car with a couple of clamps that screw on and have rubber mounts or some such.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

Thanks.

what did it break off where the screw holes are? so its just floating around under the dash?

I fixed mine with 2 nice size wire ties... If you need a pic I'll take one later

Just do what I did,  remove the latch and get some hood pins!  :hick:
