Found the washer bottle in my 83 is cracked pretty much right in half. Does anyone know or has anyone used a Mustang bottle for a replacement?
Which bottle do you have? Have a picture?
Not at the moment. Is there more than one? It pokes thru the hole in the apr0n between the battery and solenoid and is mounted behind the fender.
Sorry, I had a brain fart, I thought you were asking about the overflow bottle. Yeah, I believe the washer bottle is the same as the Mustang. I think I have one from a mustang and one from a 88 TC.
I have a couple of them from 87-88 Turbo Coupes. I can ship you one for $40.
If you have a 83 Bird/Cougar, the correct washer reservoir is a one year only Bird/Cougar coolant and washer fluid combo unit. 84 and up cars had the reservoir for washer fluid inside the driver front fender well.

F-150's have one that is almost exactly the same.
No. Mine is a factory TC so it had the battery on the drivers side with over flow mounted to frame rail and washer bottle under fender.
I would use that style but Im keeping the battery in the stock location because my air filter will be in opposite corner for my 5.0
50RACER, would you happen to have the pig tail to plug into that pump? I see the wiring is different between a 83 and the 87+ cars.
I would love to see your door tag and build date, i have never seen a 83 car Bird or Cougar with the battery on Drivers side. Not saying its wrong, just never seen one. If you have a late build date i could see that. Whats the vin on your car?
I am sure that I have it, but to get it I'm pretty sure that I would have to cut it from the entire fuse panel wiring harness. That would make that harness much less valuable, so I won't cut it. I will check to see if maybe it will unplug, but I doubt it.
That has nothing to do with it. Have you ever seen under the hood of any 2.3t Bird or XR7? They all came as I discribed
you are correct good sir, i was mistaken. The v6/V8 cars all had the set up i described.
This is off-topic, but I was once in a bind with my wife's old daily driver '65 plymouth fury. The washer pump didn't work, and the bottle just crumbled apart with age. I bought a universal inline pump at O'Rileys and fed it from a 20-oz Mountain Dew bottle, lol.
Needs dual snorkel air cleaner.
Originality my friend...... :D
Shush. No one will know.....
I think I still have on in my parts car, it's an 87. IF you're interested.
Only if you can cut off the plug for the pump also since the connection is different on a 83
I have the style that is mounted in the fender. Car was originally an 84, 2.3 TC. I found one on e-bay that was listed as a mustang one and it was an exact match.
I don't see why I couldn't. I could as much of the harness as you'd need.
