Selling our 20th Anniversary Mercury Cougar, $1500 OBO located in Dover, PA.

Selling because interests have changed.

Currently car has 203040 miles on it & does need some work (runs & drives).  Windshield is cracked. Car does have some rust (can be seen in pictures). Interior had been changed out years ago because the original interior was bad and 2 position seat computer was missing. We have the original truck lid & hood. Front brakes have been upgraded with turbo coupe rotors & spindle assemblies. Rear was replaced with a turbo coupe rear with disc brakes. Engine had been replaced at 188023 miles (has small cam with 24lb injectors), converted to 5.0HO with mass air, & 5 speed conversion had been added. Have original wheels along with the matching wheel that are currently on the car. Original engine & auto transmission are available to go with car.

Lounge / antique / classic tags
Anyone has antique or classic tags? What are the pros & cons? Do you regret doing it? I'm thinking about going antique on ours. In PA, once gone antique or classic you can't go back to regular tags. Here antique does not get yearly inspection or emissions, classic gets yearly inspection.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / F/S: 20th Anniversary Cougar $2500 OBO
Our 20th Anniversary Cougar is for sale, $2500 OBO. Prefer to sell as a package deal (have other wheels, original engine, 2 auto trannys, & various other parts that we have acspoogeulated over the years). This is an extra vehicle that we don't need. We do not have room to get it inside so we would like to see someone enjoy it instead of the elements taking their toll.

Car has current PA inspection and emissions that expires June 2014. Odometer is currently showing 200,370 miles. The engine has 12,xxx miles on it.

Needs some body & paint work. Have a piece of a rear quarter panel to use to fix the passenger quarter over the wheel.

The interior is not the 20th anny interior. We have the original hood & trunk lid. Has been converted to 5 speed.

Has turbo coupe disc brake rear w/3.55 gears, limited slip is tight, turbo coupe front disc brakes, fiberglass 3" cowl hood, turbo coupe wheels, CHE control arms (upper are adjustable / lowers have adjustable spring perch), poly bushings in the front suspension, homemade frame connectors, line lock, Autometer tach w/ shift light, mechanical gauges in the scoop, & mass air conversion (there may be more but can't remember at this time).

Pictures show blankets on the back seat, these are there only to protect the seat from when our kids were small.

Misc Tech / cougar stalling
Cougar will start and run until I turned the steering wheel or left the clutch out this morning to come to work. Car immediately shut off when I turned the wheel very little or started to let the clutch out. Car would start right back up by turning the key. I'm thinking the ignition switch is the issue because the key turns smoothly & pretty freely. I did not feel any notches when turning the key. It does not take much to turn the key from the run position to the off position. What are your thoughts?

Misc Tech / Taurus fan
I need a new motor for my Taurus 2 speed fan but do not know what year the fan is from. I remember there was a thread that has mentioned part numbers and years. I believe Vinnie had done the research. Can anyone help?

Drivetrain Tech / T5 rebuild kit
Where is the best place to buy a T5 rebuild kit? I want to rebuild mine. Without tearing it apart, it needs synchronizers between 2 & 3 gears.

Engine Tech / temp running 205
Lately my car has been running warm, 205F. I have a 180f thermostat. Runs alot hotter when ac is on. Not sure what the issue is. Last year only ran about 195f all summer (without ac running). I have not made any changes.

Here are the specs: 302 with stock bore and pistons, stock head that have the ports cleaned up, small cam (less than .500 lift), explorer intake, 65mm throttle body & egr spacer, 24lb injectors, timing set at 10, Walbro 255 fuel pump, fuel pressure set at 38, brass 2 core oem radiator, taurus 2 speed electric fan running high speed, 5 speed, 3.55 gears.

I know there are other cars on here that have about the same combo or more. What do your cars run at?

Body/Appearance/Interior / door window vent visors
Anyone know what company make the smoked vent visors that fit in the door window channel? My had gotten destroyed over the winter and I can't find any to replace mine.Auto Ventshade made by Lund Industries don't show these on their website. I have e-mailed them twice to receive no response.

Suspension/Steering / quad shocks
Last week I installed my tc rear with CHE control arms. Should I put the quad (aka. kicker / axle dampening) shocks back on? How many of you are still using them? There are a lot of people saying they don't really do anything.

Electrical Tech / blower only works on high
My heater fan only works on high. I have the manual heat / ac system. According to everything I have read the resistor needs replaced. Is there a way to check the resistor yo verify that it is bad? I have power to all the wiring at the resistor except the black wire which I believe is ground. With the resistor plug in, I have power to all the wires at the switch except the black wire which I believe is ground.

Suspension/Steering / left front brake line
I have noticed that the left front brake line does not connect to the proportioning valve. I do not understand why Ford would do such a thing. I believe this would allow full braking pressure to the left front wheel causing possible lock up in slippery conditions. I want to add line lock and re-pipe the left front to be connected after the proportioning valve. Does anyone see anything wrong with doing this? How did anyone else pipe your line lock? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Lounge / classic tags (registration)
What are the down falls of registering a car to have classic tags? I'm thinking about registering my cougar as a classic. I know there is a mileage limit and can't drive it to work. Has anyone else done this?

Engine Tech / 73 mm or 76mm mass air meter
I want to buy a C&L mass air meter but wanted everyone's thought about which size. Would I notice a difference between the 73mm & the 76mm? If I added the 76mm pipe, would I notice any improvement?

I have a stock bottom end, cleaned up E7s, cam has the intake lift of the motorsport B and exhaust lift of the motorsport E cams, explorer intake with 65mm throttle body, stock air cleaner box with K&N filter, stock mass air meter, and stock intake tube.

Engine Tech / bigger mass air housing
What determines when to go with a bigger mass air housing? What determines what size to go with? I'm asking because I'm still using the stock fox mustang one. I have a stock bottom end, cleaned up e7 heads, cam with .483 intake lift and .498 exhaust lift, explorer intake with 65mm throttle body and egr spacer, and 19lb injector.

Drivetrain Tech / driveshaft loop
Is there anyone running a driveshaft loop here? If there is, what are you using? Does the fox mustang ones work on our cars?

I went to the track on Sunday and was spinning badly off the line. I was using a set of street tires that are down to the treads bars and had 20psi in them. I have a set of sprint car tires to use but need a driveshaft loop to get through tech.
