T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / 1987-88 bird / cat
I really have no idea. I think finding a box big enough would be a challenge. I'll see if I can figure something out this weekend and get a rough estimate based on the size and weight of the door panels.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / 87/88 Cougar GST body kit
I bought this for my project and ended up selling the car so it needs to go to someone that will use it. The front air dam has some cracks, but it's fiberglass so should be a pretty easy fix. The cracks aren't affecting the structure at all. The side skirts are in really nice shape. The rear valence is cracked through on the left side. Still a relatively easy fix if you know how to work fiberglass. Boat repair works really well. I'll throw in the stick on moldings in case yours get messed up taking them off to install this. I am in Williamsburg, VA. I could drive a reasonable distance to meet someone as long as you are serious about buying. $300

Electrical Tech / Rear view mirror with compass and temp display?
You don't have to pull the headliner. The compass is actually at the base of the mirror so nothing extra to install. The temperature probe clips behind the grill. Running that wire is probably the hardest part of the whole process, so that should tell you how easy it is.

people who go through the trouble of installing one of these systems would almost certainly drive for mileage after installing it (meaning that everything is not equal), so they observe a slight increase in fuel economy. Not from the system, but from their more frugal driving habits.

You hit the nail on the head right here!

A friend of mine is a mechanic for pen 15e. He bought into one of the companies and was developing a system for a couple different vehicles. The thought process was to see if he could bring the technology to pen 15e and make some money off of installing the systems. I'm not sure what company it was, but he couldn't get enough mpg out of either of them to warrant paying for the kit. The sport utility got the most improved mileage, but it was only like 1-2 mpg and we figured the truck would have to be driven over 100K miles to pay for the system. On top of the intitial cost of the kit, it has to be properly tuned. I drive over 100 miles per day, so I was hoping he would have gotten some good numbers, but it just didn't work out. I bought a Civic hybrid instead. It's more than paying for itself these days....
