I was just looking for hotel rates and they're almost all booked. RRI has rooms but they are up to $74 for Fri and $92 for Saturday. Days Inn is booked and when I tried Microtel, the Boardman location didn't even show up.
I'm going to go ahead and book at RRI, but dang! :-)
Hrmmm...the plan was to get a weekend where we can stand alone. I'm not aware of anything going on but if they're almost booked up, then obviously there's an issue.

OK, I must have been half asleep when I checked on rooms last night, either that or the sites I checked were full of it (expedia, hotels.com & travelocity).
I just checked with each hotel in the vicinity of RRI (RRI, Days Inn, Holiday Inn, Hampton, Fairfield & Microtel) and here's what I got.
Note that I was checking for a two night stay with 2 adults, arriving Friday night, and, when a preference was needed, smoking room.
- Days Inn: Booked on both weekends
- Holiday Inn: (11-13 = $108-$144) (18-20 = $117-$239)
- Hampton Inn: $119 on both weekends
- Residence Inn: $199 on both weekends
- RRI: Both weekends open, but looks like more rooms on 18-20 (rate is $75 Fri and $93 Sat. on both weekends)
- Microtel: I could not find a site that had anything for this. Even it's own site only listed a location in Grove City, PA. Did this motel close?

On Saturday, we usually meet at Red Roof Inn at about 10:00 AM. We line up the cars, take some pictures/videos and have a little "caravan" meeting on getting to Mill Creek Park. Then we head out for the park between 10:30 and 11:00. We are at the park until about 4:30-5:00PM when we caravan back into Boardman for the Chili's car show which goes until around 8:30-9:00PM.

As mentioned, CJ is in Youngstown and Boardman Ohio. This means that the motels most everyone stays at are technically in Boardman, and the park is closer to Y-town (but they're all just basically suburbs of Y-town).
T-birds have always been welcomed, but last year 'birds were made "official" entries (so to speak ;) ). I've been to the last 3 CJ's and there have been at least 4-5 or more T-birds there every year.

I didn't make last years be me and the family are planning to be there for the next one. We had a great time at our first 2 yrs ago.I will possibly bring 2 cars, an older 69-70 and a fox or mn or maybe to foxs. They are all starting to come togeather nicely, knock on wood.

Yep, as soon as everything is in place (usually in March) I'll start taking registrations through the site. It's up to you right now to book your hotel reservations, or find someone to room up with. There are usually a few fellow Canadians here every year so you won't be alone. ;)
The show is a blast. Technically it's for the cars...but the people make the show.
I am gonna try to make it this year. Need to put a fuel pump in my dads bird, and finish my mark. Maybe if i get the stang road ready take it instead of the mark, we will see, but I WILL be there one way or another!!

I'll be there, and hopefully my car will be too. I just replaced the injector harness, and its going into the shop on Monday to get the steering rack and pump replaced. I think I'm going to change the alternator and vapor canister too.

On Saturday it's a little tough to do that...the Mountaineer worked out so much nicer for all the big boxes and whatnot. I'm not willing to sacrifice any more Cougar interiors or trunks for hauling anymore. Unless I can find someone to take my SUV home (parents?), then that would work out. Honestly I won't know until that weekend so no use speculating now. :)

There was talk last year of moving to Microtel as the host hotel for this year. I gathered that this was because of RRI's prices last year. However, when I was looking around for motels this year, I could not even find Microtel to check prices. Even Microtel's own website lists the closest inn in PA, it doesn't even list the one down the street from RRI. So I don't know if that one is even still in business. Anyone from the area know anything more?

well i just called rri and there is a police convention going on that weekend.there is a 90 room block being held.the hotel has 117 rooms.not much left for us.the rooms that are not taken from the block are let go on june 12th.just thout id share that info.

It's waaayyyyy too late to get another weekend for 2008; I have to plan these things a year in advance. What's set is set now. I have no way of antiting what else is going on the same weekend as our show, unfortunately, but it always seems like there is something no matter what we do: monster truck show, police convention, etc. That must be a popular weekend to visit my town for some reason (maybe because we put away the snow shovels shortly before then). ;)

Yes, it is true. The Chili's show is no more. The Valley Cruzers and the mall management could not come to an agreement (just take a guess who was being difficult). Actually this is a good thing for two reasons...
One, because the Valley Cruzers are comprised of mostly older guys who just do the car show thing as a hobby. Yet the mall demanded that they pay $1100/week for the Chili's lot, in full and beforehand, and the mall reserved the right to deny them usage at any time and could cancel the contract without warning. It wasn't the people at the mall, it was the mall management in Indianapolis. As much as the mall people wanted to keep the club, management said no. These guys deserved way better treatment than that, so it's good to see them leave, although that was an excellent location for a car show. But...
Two...the show has moved to a new location, the former Sam's Club building on South Avenue. Yep, it's the big building directly behind the Red Roof Inn. We won't have far to go this year. ;)

K, it appears that the way that Paypal handles the variables that I send over may have changed. I had a different, non-CJ order sent over to the same Paypal address and it went through perfectly. So yeah I'd REALLY love to go to catjam, I think I can make the hike mom still won't be real keen but in the end I know she'll cave. :D The deal is Im 19, and she said the vast majority of hotels you have to be 21 to get a room. Are there any in the area that are exceptions to this? Other options I might have?

Me and my gf went to cedar point last year with a friend of ours and his gf. We got a hotel room the night before so we could get there first thing in the morning and we are all under 21, no problems at all there. An adult is an adult except for drinking.

Dave, the picture you are talking about was taken in an empty parking lot across the street from Red Roof Inn, where a lot of us have been staying. We usually meet at RRI's parking lot about 10 AM for a short meeting before heading to the park. This is when we have been lining up the cars for a group shot. We usually like to be on the road to the park between 10:30 and 11 AM, so if you can make it there between 10 and 10:30 (closer to 10 if possible), you should be OK.

I found out a little more info about that show too. It seems that a former member of the host club (Valley Cruzers) is starting up his own show, and it is going to be held at Chili's. He's counting on people just returning to Chili's out of habit. Basically he snuck behind the backs of the Valley Cruzers to do that. Now I have no idea who the guy is or what his intentions are, but all of the cool guys from Valley Cruzers will be at the other show (the one behind the hotel). They've asked me personally to have us go to their show, not the one at Chili's, and of course we will abide by that.
I don't want to add a layer of confusion here, that's all.

Kevin, it will be split between 3 different charities this year.
You might want to also partite in the Chinese Auction I hold each year. All monies from it go to the charities as well. I try to have really nice prizes for everyone. In past years we had car covers which went over very well along with other car things. Also home made baked goods. Last year some of the people who came donated things for the auction.... it was a great success.
I happen to know one of the door prizes this year is going to be a really nice one. We always have great stuff. (Door prizes do not require a purchased ticket, each driver gets a door prize ticket at no cost)
Donations are up to you, really. If you can swing it, no problem...if not we totally understand. When you pre-register via my website you can also make the donation there if you wish.
BTW, this is not a swap meet...no parts will be for sale...

Yup. I waited waaaay too long to book a room. Looks like I might be staying in north Youngstown unless I can find something closer. Only about 20 mins or so from the RRI, but still not all that convenient.
WOOT! Got a room at the Holiday Inn Boardman, with queen bed, breakfast, and non-smoking. Now I just have to get the car ready :D
It never surprises me when things get rough in my world any more. There may be a few of you that live close to the Owensboro, Kentucky area that might have heard about the Executive Inn Rivermont closing. Well, this closing is affecting me directly. I was the audio/visual guy for the hotel AND had my own business in the lower level of hotel. Just about 90% of the profits going into my business came from the Executive Inn. With the closing of the hotel, comes the closing of my business. I have to move out in 30 days!
Thank goodness I have two part-time jobs to help cover things for a while, but money has become tight. So to make a long story short, I will not be able to make it to CJ this year once again. This sucks because I really wanted to be there this year. I really needed some time away for a few days. :(

We are now officially booked at the Red Roof Inn with a king sized bed, non smoking for $90. will be arriving bright and early sat morning. hoping to get there at about 8:30am, have a quick breakfast, then meet anybody hanging out in the parking lot.
Ok, I just called and got our rooms at RRI instead of Econolodge. The price wasn't as much of a difference as I had first thought. So, I believe we will be coming down Friday and staying the weekend.

I'm taking a vacation day on Friday so I should be rolling in around 3-4pm, give or take.
My cougar isn't inspected or insured. Our cougars are still in hibernation warm and cozy in the garage. The bodykit is still boxed away right about her. Haha if I were rich I would have her trailered to CJ.... maybe if I win the lottery in the near future!

Well I spoke w/ my father and asked if we could make it to the show this year and we discussed that if we could rent a trailer, maybe just maybe.
My sister is getting married on the 26th so most of the parents funds are going to that. So we will see. My dad said we will have to work on the cats this week, hmmm maybe fellas.
I just recieved a letter from the IRS, and I'm supposed to be getting my stimulus check this Friday or next Monday. I might just have to save some of it and come to CJ. Who knows. Its going to be one of those last-minute decisions.

I've still got some things I have to get done to mine as well. I have to get the brakes looked at, do a loooong overdue real cleaning of the inside, wax it (if it ever stops raining) and my light kit isn't working right, so I have to work on that (again, if it ever stops raining).

Im gonna be starting fiberglass work this week, I will not have full paint, most likely half finished glass with rattle can flat black on many parts.
I'm picking up paint tomorrow. I have some fine scuffing of parts before I spray on some HB primer. My first solo paint project. I only assisted in the full car paint with the sandblasting prepping and masking.

By the way, what I said in a PM that I would not be able to get in time, I might very well have again this year, including a surprise for the TBird guys (+dolls). I ordered them both Friday, and am told they will ship by Monday. People seemed to like them when I gave them away 2 years ago, so for now............shhhh, and anyone else who remembers what I gave away. I just hope they get here in time. You can see the last ones on the car I'm bringing up this year. ;)

Just changed the spark plugs and the T-bird is running a lot better now. Last week had the new headliner put in, pass. window fixed, new rear-deck felt on, speaker grilles painted, and it STILL seems like I'll never be ready. Now I just need to figure out why that $**%$# right cornering light in my fender won't come on. The bulb looks good...
Well I have to meet with the CEO and director of operations on July 12th @ 10am in DuBois regarding the new store that I am going to be managing in my town. I hope to leave DuBois following the meeting latest 12pm to get to youngstown by 3ish.

I waxed the whole upper half (trim up). Got to clay bar yet though. I detailed the engine bay today. Started to tinker with interior projects, but I'm running out of time and $$ real fast. I worked on the tbird front gfx to fit on the cougar today. Took a few hours!! Went to attempt to rent a trailer to pull her and they only have the type that you have to disconnect the driveshaft. NO WAY! I would rather have it on a full trailer!

If anyone's driving through PA, I recommend setting the cruise and taking it easy. For some reason, PA State Police have been OBSESSED with speed enforcement ever since Memorial Day or so (I haven't gotten ticketed, but I've seen them patrolling areas that they NEVER patrol like there is no tomorrow). So please travel safely, in more ways than one.

Well, I moved back to MA and start a new job on Monday so I dont even have a clue if I'll be there this year at the moment... I guess it's really gonna be a last minute decision...
I was replacing the water pump on the cougar yesterday and left in my focus to rent a pulley puller and about a mile from my house threw the timing belt on the focus and hence trashed the engine.Now until i get it back from the garage the cougar is now my daily driver which with all the rain we've been getting here should be a pain in the a** to get it cleaned up properly.
I will be there with my POS cougar... LOL.

I think I'm gunna bring the '87 this time. New shocks & struts going on Monday (been needing this for about 11 years!), then I'm gunna try to fix my window that came loose and fell down into the door. :hick: (I'm hoping its just the clips needing to be reglued. I bought some Gorilla glue as I read on here somewhere that it works well.)
If that repair does not go well, I guess I'll drive the '97 instead.
Either way the car probably isn't going to be as clean & shiney as I would like...just been too busy with many things the past couple of months to really give them enough attention. Oh well. I'll just be happy to be there. ;)

Well my car washiznit over the weekend....no serious damage, just a small dent and some marks that need buffed out. But the person who did it is fighting me on it and denying everything. It was on private property and the state police said they are going to research to see fi they can file any kind of charges because it was a hit and run. but on private property it doesn't qualify as such.
I'm not happy about it at all, and we have a $250 deductible if it's turned in on our insurance, so I'm not sure what to do now.

I told a couple guys that I wont be able to make it. I had to do alot of repairing on my truck and that got expensive quick. I had the car retuned and it's ready to go but now im broke. The cougar is as done as it is going to be... put a spare tire in the trunk, (first time it has been in it since I bought it...) got the body kit loaded up, interior is the cleanest it has ever been everything is all packed and ready to go... just gonna change the oil and should be good to go.... going to bed early and leaving at 3am. see you all tomorrow morning.

My dad and I got to Mill Creek around 130 yesterday. The weather was beautiful and all of the birds and cougars really made it a decent day.
We couldn't stay long at either the park or show due to my dad's health. He was released from the ER Thursday night due to being 2.5qts low on blood. He wasn't able to receive a transfusion until Monday. Just being out of bed and the drive wore him out. But he said it was really nice to see everyone again. ....AND my windows decided to BOTH come out of the clips yesterday on my way to Ohio. MUST BE OHIO'S BAD ROADS! ahhhhhh
Hopefully next year his health will be back and my mom can ride with him in his blue max and I can bring along my fiance to meet all the rest of the cougarnuts.
Gary in the black cougar mn12 sure brought a nice ride. Very nicely done.
Alex's header panel mod was stunning. Glad to see Karen and her 30th there along with her family (i missed the past year and dang your kids grew like sprouts!)
And then there is GRUMPY, he always seems to make CJ more enjoyable. Haha I could write a book on all the experiences of just yesterday but I best be getting those clips fixed in the windows before work.

CJ08 was rockin'...thanks everyone for coming out. I was initially skeptical that so many people would venture out due to the high gas prices and inflated hotel room prices. I was expecting the worst...never thought we'd have the highest attendance ever.

well, I got there about 6:00 friday night, and got home too without a single problem, other than on monday I figured out why it was so utterly gutless down low. I had the timing belt on 1 tooth off, and it actually still is 1 tooth off, only I have the cam gear advanced 10 degrees:D And man am I glad I didn't try to have this megasquirt on it for catjam. things driving me nuts:punchballs:
