car-parts.com Reply #3 – November 29, 2008, 02:50:10 PM Just a couple things:If the yard is more than a few miles away, call before you go. It's been my experience that a good many of them don't really know what they have until you get there. This especially applies to smaller parts. Just as an example, I found 9 listings for Mustang convertible sunvisors before leaving on a FL to VA trip last summer. None of them were there when I got to or called the yard. Ended up finding some on craigslist months later. If it's a rare/scarce part, don't get your hopes up on the condition. I've scoured online for parts and visited yards all over the SE when traveling and mainly I find that if they even have what they've listed the condition is overestimated or the price is exorbiant. There are very few junkyards left, these "recyclers" don't really want to deal in the small stuff or with retail customers. Quote Selected
