Engine Tech / 4 bbl. Intake and Carb
Hey did you guys find a fix for this? Ive just run into the same issue. I put a new holley and a new edlebrock on the car, and with them, the kickdown lever has the spring almost maxed out, probably not the ideal place. since then Ive discovered my air cleaner doesnt fit. she's too wide, leans on the distributor. so ive gone and grabbed a 1" spacer plate. and now the linkage doesnt even go that far. any suggestions on an extender of sorts for it? ive got pictures of my conundrum if you need them.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Bullseye mounting
Yeah i had some of that stuff on there, but with the cold temperatures up here, and the fact that i can see it getting bumped or smacked all the time, it didnt work too well.

Body/Appearance/Interior / Bullseye mounting
So when i picked the car up originally, it had the bulls eye still with it, but the mounting spring and hardware was long gone. Also the little loop at the bottom is broken, may be the reason its not on the car anymore.

I just wanted to know if you guys had had any luck re-mounting these, as well as if there are any popular fixes for them. I know that if I need the hardware I can make a quick trip down to the yard, and s one out of another vehicle.

Here's a pic of the piece:

Engine Tech / Cruise confirmation
never mind. did some research, and when i went to pull the cord out, the thing just slid out like it was nothing. broken/ cut line. explains why my cruise didnt work in the first place

Engine Tech / Cruise confirmation
Hey guys just did the carb/intake swap on my cougar a couple days ago. and I wanted to confirm that the third wire in the picture is my cruise control lever.

I know the:
-dirty black one on top with the yellow/blue band is my AOD kickdown
-Black one in the middle with the spring is my throttle.
-Black/yellow is my cruise?

Im wondering because the cruise doesnt work, and Id rather remove the wire as opposed to taking the risk it might jam and leave my throttle wide open at an inopportune time.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / I think it's time...
Im the flipside of the coin. Im only 21 and i picked up my car for stupid cheap. probably because the guy wanted his driveway space tho. I even just bought the car as something to replace my bonnie while she was off the road. Now Ive just installed parts worth 3 times what i paid for the car in the first place, and Im selling my bonneville.

General Fox T-Bird/Cougar Discussion / Driving Impressions
First time I had the Cougar out in weather was 2 weeks after I bought it. The first time I had had any RWD on questionable roads. If i hadn't spent most of my previous winter driving hours drifting in a FWD family car, I probably would have lost her over the median. Surprised the heck, and scared the  outta me, after sitting for 5 years, I didn't really think she could do it. Now that Ive done it a few times, I really want to find out what it'll be like with a new gear set in the back.

Body/Appearance/Interior / gots me some turbines!
Hey guys, well i got a little busy yesterday. went out and bought a new set of rims for the cougar. sadly the guy selling them didn't have the center caps. oh well, easy find at a junkyard i hope. took a couple pics of them once i got home, and a mock up on the car.

Looks like they'll be going on as soon as someone cleans up all of this cocaine!!!
plus I'm thinking of investing in some Firehawk Indy's...maybe...
Fronts

Backs

I Have thought about doing a quick spray job on them, to make them more like the cragar Turbines of old, but im not so sure after seeing Daminc's set on his Black Cat in the wheels thread, what do you think?

Drivetrain Tech / Interchangeable Differential specs
so, during a long and boring night at work, i decided to go snooping around the interwebs to see what i could find out about some previously loved diffs. I hoped that maybe, just maybe i could grab one out of another ford, considering they where all made with the same parts...and im a little too poor to spend like $300 on a new set of gears and another $300 on a new trac-lok. after a surprisingly short foray, i found this gem. seems somebody likes their ranger so much that they wanted to list all of the available stock rear ends in a hand picked bunch of fords in our era.

scroll about half way down...they list the door/diff cover codes, weather its an open or L/S, sizes, although i think the 9" is not represented, the capacities and a whole whack of ratios, everything from 3.08 to 4.56

thought you all might enjoy:

Body/Appearance/Interior / new paint job idea
Id love a tc hood. downside is nobody around me has one, I havent even seen a fox body in my junkyard for a few months now.

Well Im not entirely sure on the strips now, sadly feeling kind of lazy, just wanting my mechanical done. although, Im still doing the lettering on the side, roughly same spot, or possibly just below the "LS" thats on the fender, but overall i found the lettering i was looking for:

Put Bonneville back together, includes painting and installing fenders, re-assembling engine, and some general cleaning.

mine are more of a necessity, the hood will pop up on me when i go over a bump. its the last thing i need when im doin 110 down the highway. im trying to keep them subtle, the ones i have are really small, they probably wont be as big as the picture suggests.
