When the Cougar first debuted in 1967, the car was similar is style to the Mustang, but with more class and elegance than the little sports car. The Cougar was designed to be a muscle car....with luxury, and through the years it closely followed the Mustang and Thunderbird in style. This is a fifth generation 1980 Cougar XR-7, only made for two years and thus hard to find. Built on the Fox body (as were the mid-80's Mustang, Thunderbird, and Mark VII) this car has the XR-7 package. The engine is the dependable 200 cubic inch I6 and a 3-speed transmission. The engine has been completely rebuilt and cleaned with new gaskets. It has only 71,000 miles on it and runs great!
This car has a lot of new parts including: ~new starter ~new alternator ~ALL new gaskets in engine, including head gaskets ~new hoses ~new tires ~new brakes ~new brake lines
The car is a slightly faded autumn color with black pin strips, fenders, and rockers-a really nice-looking combination with the chrome! The interior is very clean brown and autumn cloth with vinyl trim. The car was towards the top of the line in 1980 with an buttstuffog clock and a AM FM radio. The car is well on its way to being fully restored. It needs a little body work on the lower door panels and a instrument gauge needs to be repaired, but it runs great and is in good condition. A rare classic and part of Ford's Mustang/Thunderbird/Cougar story, this car is a beautiful piece of car history and a head turner. Negotiable on the price, starting at $6,500 obo. after dealing with the city all night after my street caved in, right where i park my car no less, i took off work today since i hate working without sleep when my job doesnt have me moving around all day(to keep me awake). while cruising craigslist i spotted a tbird that needed work and the guy wanted it gone today so i called him up and went to look at it. looked it over and aside from the paint being a little weathered and a peice of moulding was missing the body was decent and not all rotted out. bottom of the doors were clean and rust free, bottom of the rear window was rot free and such. needs some work(oil leak from somewhere near the filter i believe, dipstick is cut or the lower part broke off?, brake pedal goes almost to the floor but still stops and the fluids need to be changed) and its a little dirty but its inspected and some stuff under the hood has been replaced so it wasnt exactly someones beater. no pics for you s untill tomorrow im tired and ill take them when the suns out after work  my objective with it is to finally try the 5 speed swap i wanted to do awhile ago so when the trans s out im gonna try to be ready for it.
im not used to asking for opinions so bear with me on this as im just thinking out loud. thoughts, comments both positive and negative are welcome. trolling craigslist lately ive been noticing a lot of shops closing down and selling thier tools, what ive been seeing alot of lately is specialty shop tools and emissions testing equipment for sale cheap. then i got to thinking "could i use any of that for my own benifit?", or rather would c00ching up something advanced like that help me get my cars running better. much better than a py code reader and could possibly make a few $$$ on the side too. i do a decent job of keeping my cars running right, whatever they may be at the time, but running well and no CEL doesnt mean they will automatically pass inspection/emissions testing. eventually my passion will lead me to something new enough that having weird equipment like that would be a requirement of sorts, cant troubleshoot everything with papareclips and old forum posts. im not familiar with any of the machines i see for sale, at all, ive only had one car inspected/tested at a shop in my life so the use out of them is purely based on what ive seen with other people getting their cars worked on. to my point, anyone here have any input on this? would it be a wise investment to c00ch up something like this without the intentions of making it my buisness and only for pesonal use? does anyone here work in a shop and have any opinions/advice on this? would it be overkill just for getting deeper into tinkering with cars? im not talking about setting up a dynometer in my house just incase you were thinking that, though id like to just for the hell of it:hick:

i was talking to the guy earlier and the info i got was a bit vague but from what i could understand the car has been sitting in a garage since '95 or so, he said it is beige colored and i believe he said it had slotted aluminum wheels(i dont know if he meant trx ones). the tires on it failed inspection so i hope its not the trx ones. if i can this weekend i may go check it out and if it catches my eye might buy it, a big "if" though. just passing this along incase someone else is interested.
guy states something about the grill being different, i dont remember seeing something reguarding that when i was researching xr7s before so can someone shed some light on that?
says it a special edition one, im too lazy to check over at coolcats and check. basically needs the engine put back together, i have no idea what he means by needing 2 more timing gears? looks kinda clean from the pics though.
there's a blue 87 tbird turbocoupe located at new holland ford/Lincoln/mercury on 508 w. main st., new holland PA. it's a 5speed with 45k on it, looks pretty nice. the advertised price in the Ad is $6991. they have a website but I can't see it on this iPhone pos I'm using. just wanted to put that out there incase anyone was looking
like the title says I'm looking for grey carpeted door mounted armrests for my 86. I've been trolling the local JY and the ones in upstate Ny(where the car is currently at) and have come up with zilch in any condition. after lending the car to my sister she managed to break off both of them in less than 3 months :/ I have limited access to a computer ATM but I'll check here when I can.
while chatting with a somewhat accquainted mechanic for some advice while i get the hang of troubleshooting my emmisions stuff he asked me if what i had was a "rolling idle" :wtf: after asking him what does that mean exactly he said i should know already by now but couldnt give me an descriptive answer or as he put it "its a the kinda thing you just know"
