Ok I have decided to sell my car. Ok this car is built: $6500 Firm ! Have over 20k in it. Its a 2.3L bored .030 over, engine rebuild has about 5000 miles on it. The head was ported and polished as were the upper and lower intakes. Esslinger timing pulleys, water pump overdrive pulley and crank underdrive pulley 35lbs Injectors were flowed and matched, with the LA3 EEC IV conversion. Kirban adjustable Fuel pressure regulator with Stewart Warner electronic Fuel pressure gauge in dash Front mount Intercooler with a Forge Blow Off Valve. Ported E6 exhaust manifold Full 3" exhaust over the axle Custom T3/T4 Garrett turbocharger 20psi (just rebuilt) Hallman boost controller World Class T5 transmission rebuilt 7.5 posi-rear with 3:45 's (I have an 8.8 with 3:73's I am getting ready to install) New Rack and pinion and power steering pump all new suspension with full poly Energy suspension kit, whole 9 yards CHE tubular lower control arms Fully gauged. I can't even think what else I did, but basically I went through the entire car This is a quick car and rides like a brick, totally fun to drive. Oh and it was dyno'd at 201 rwhp 287 tq with a blown turbo. It is all tuned now and should hit at least 280 rwhp on the dyno. With a tuner this car could make over 300 rwhp. Brand new 16" Nexen front tires with rear Nitto Drag radials chris 215-429-7021
When I finally understand how to use this thing, it should be pretty cool. I also got the RPM converter and connected some sensors (ECT, ACT,VAM, TPS. and Tach). Not sure what would be the best to check but I will figure it out...I hope.
At least I now know that I am not running lean at 20 PSI. Though it shows that the VAM readings get a little wacky.
Also I would not recommend this thing (LM-1) if dont want to be forced to want to spend more money. Meaning, now I definitely want a tuner so I can tune this thing ! I think a Mega Squirt is in my future.
Anyway I have a couple of datalogs to play with :D
I was at the garage my friend owns (Colket Technical Services in Lansdale on rte 63) and we are getting ready to put in the wideband setup in my TC so I can tune this SOB. First we are going to practice using the wideband to setup a Paxton SC Blow thru carb setup on a 68 camaro, before we tackle the 2.3.
Thats beside the point, the problem is when Tom (mechanic who works there) took the TC for a ride I noticed when he got out the brake lights were still on? So I kicked the brake pedal and they went off. Later when I filled the tank up on the TC I noticed the lights stayed on again. So I bought a new stoplight switch, put it in and now I only have the drivers side stoplights working? All the other lights work on the passenger side, turn signals, running lights just not the stoplights. Now my friend who owns CTS said he would fix it, but I would just like to know if anyone has ever had this happen and know what might be the cause?
A friend of mine who owns a repair shop in which I use to work on my 85, found this gem. He liked mine so much he got bit by the bug.
So i will be helping him bring her back to life. Here are the particulars: its an 83 TC with the quarter windows, a five speed and it also has the motorsport FMIC on it already.
Heres the best part, it only has 79,000 original miles.
You all must be aware by now that I have this crazy car which has been a source of both pleasure and pain. I have some more pain but maybe not. So lets see what all of your opinions are on this. Here it is:
My Garrett T3/T4 seems to be smoking alot more now than when it first started (900 miles on the entire car now). I assume that the rear carbon seal in the turbine housing may be leaking and my PCV system may be contributing to that. Yes I have the proper Motorcraft PCV for my application and it is good. Compression test shows around 175 PSI all cylinders with about 5 PSI. Leakdown is about 20% (sure hope my rings seat soon !) Runs like a sonofabitch too! I fear that maybe I have equalized the atmospheric pressure and no longer have a positive ventilation through the cam cover. I drew up a small diagram so you may see what I mean.
I am just wandering if I add the check valve in the area indicated would this help? Also I have the system plumbed the way I do, so that under boost I can still pull any blowby through the intake instead of blowing oil out of evey orifice in this engine.
Thoughts, comments, all is welcomed. Dont knock my artwork either :)
