gen 1 sbc swap?

I just found out I will soon be in posession of a 355 sbc short block with a spun bearing(s), im wondering what you all think as far as stuffing it into the 85, ive always been more of a gm guy but the fox chassis is easier to work with, i figure i would just rebuild it with some decent heads on a carb and mate it to a stalled 700r4, anyone else heard of another tbird with a similar setup?

OK, here's the deal.  I deleted the last thread because of the sheer quantity of BS in there.  If ANYONE stirs up  in this one, there will be consequences (Banning (temp or permanent), post restrictions, etc). Kind of tired of the all the BS, from all sides.

I'm not a fan of the swaps personally, but I'm less of a fan of the attitudes which are becoming prevalent around here. Play nice, or you won't be allowed onto the playground.

KEEP THIS THREAD ON TOPIC.

OP, SleeperTbird has a Chevy engine in a maverick, and I think he may have had an LS in a Fox car, and there's another member here that had a Caddy 500" in a Tbird. Not exactly what you're doing, but they may be able to give some advice.
Also, there's a Fox-powered-by-GM thread on the corral, might be right up your alley.

i had a gen 1 in the old white car and in a 85 coupe mustang

all he needs is a set of simple homemade mounts (speedway sells some that can be used easy if your skills are lacking)
and 1st gen camaro, chevelle, fullsize headers flowtechs number is like flt1100 irrc
i have also used g body headers with sucess
trans crossmember works
change the driveshaft yoke to a gm style
and enjoy it isnt a hard swap at all.

there is some pictures of my old swap here just search my user name

HERE YOU GO DEPENDING ON THE YEAR OF YOUR 355. You can install a crank kit and repair the engine. Naturally if all the other components are ok. Here you go a very reasonable kit to repair the spun bearing. Then whatever you decide to do with the engine is your call.
