steering wheel flex?

Hey people,

My sport steering wheel on my 88 XR7 is starting to wiggle when you grab it sometimes.  It feels like the plastic part is separating from the metal rim inside it.  Right now its only happening at the 10 o'clock position, but I am a little nervous about it.  The wheel looks perfect, would be a shame if it rips apart or something! :(

Any ideas if I can put glue somewhere to get it to stop this?

You mean like it's spongy?

I think that eventually happens to all of them Jeeves. It's funky. I've owned like almost a dozen of those wheels, and some remained "hard" while others got all mushy. The "hard" wheels remain on my convertible and the '88 Blue Max (traded a mushy one to my buddy for his Turbo Coupe for that one). Once they get mushy, though, they should be alright...although I have seen them start to crack as well, but that's usually in junkyard cars where they're constantly exposed to nature.

Yeah, its spongy on one side.  I only notice it when I am correcting power on oversteer (evil grin on) and even then it isn't very bad.  I will just deal with it.

I will try to find another one, just in case!
