Gear Setup Help

I'm doing my second set of gears ever.  The first set, gave me almost a textbook wear pattern on the first try.  What do you think?  Some sites say to decrease the pinion shim.  Seems to me the pinion shim would control the UP and DOWN locaiton. This pattern was taken with the lash set to about 0.09".




I want to try one more time with the backlash set to about 10 or 12 and see if the pattern moves more into the center.

The reason I am asking is because I have to find a shop to press off the pinion bearing.
My car is a gravity hybrid.  The gasoline engine gets me up the hills, and gravity gets me down.

Also, I've always concentrated on the light potion in the center of the paint.  Should I be concentrating on where the overall shape of the paint left on the teeth?
