T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars FOR SALE / Header panel and seats
- TC header panel. Grey no cracks. $70 obo.

- Blue cloth Recaro seats – these were out of a 99 Chevy Lumina with the police package. I’ve been told they were made just for industrial applications like this. They are firm. One inside cover is broken, but I don’t believe you would even see it with the console.

I forget what I paid for these, but if I find it I will adjust the price accordingly. - $150 obo.

I'll ship if you pay.

Please email bq93@att.net as I'm not on here much anymore.  I went to the dark side and traded the bird for a Grand National.

-   Blue cloth Recaro seats – these were out of a 99 Chevy Lumina with the police package.  I’ve been told they were made just for industrial applications like this.  They are firm.  One inside cover is broken, but I don’t believe you would even see it with the console.  The seats don’t look like this, but this site shows how to modify the brackets to fit a mustang if it would help.

Miscellaneous For Sale/Wanted / Car trailer/tow dolly needed to rent/buy
The uhaul dollies are too narrow.  I'm hauling a 1/2 ton truck so it needs to be 80" wide.  Plus they want $700 one way.  I can buy a used one for that then resell it.

I'll do that if I have to, I just wanted to see if someone might have one and wants to make a few bucks.

Miscellaneous For Sale/Wanted / Car trailer/tow dolly needed to rent/buy
I need to rent (or buy if the price is right) a car trailer or tow dolly in or around Boston/Connecticut for a few weeks. My little brother is in the Navy (submarines) and is changing commands. I am flying up to bring one of his vehicles home and would like to rent a trailer or a heavy duty tow dolly. I will be taking it from Groton, Connecticut to Texas where it will set for about two weeks and I will bring it back when I bring him back.

I am willing to pay you a reasonable fee and leave you whatever deposit you require.  I can also work something out in parts if you are interested.  I have plenty of parts including a TC hood, TC header panel, and plenty of seats all in good condition.

I have my CDL and have been pulling trailers since I could see over the wheel. I am also a prosecutor for the State of Texas so the chances of me ripping you off are zero.

I really am in a jam here and hope someone could help me out. If it comes to it I will buy a new trailer there and resell it, but I’d like to avoid that hassle if possible.

Thanks for any help or leads.

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / power seat base connections wanted
I need a set of connections for a set of power seat bases.  I don’t need the bases themselves, just the connections.

So if you have those burned up bases setting around, I’m here to take the connections off your hands.

Thanks,

Joey

Electrical Tech / Ignition problems
Thanks for the info.

One clarification – again since I am an electrical dumb@ss - does it sound like I can get by with just the ignition switch, or do you think I need a new key lock cylinder as well?  I realize it may be hard to tell just hearing about it.

Thanks again.

Electrical Tech / Ignition problems
The car is doing some really strange things and as much as I need improvement on the mechanical part of working on these cars, any electrical problem is just out of my league.

First about the car.  The ignition has been kind of “free flowing"  since I’ve had the car.  What I mean is – you never really feel any indents such as “Off”, “Run”, “Acc”, or “Start”.  The thing just kind of moves on one fluid motion.

For the last year it hasn’t been a big deal really, since the previous owner installed a push to start switch.  He bypassed the clutch safety and wired straight to the starter (I think it screwed up the cruise as well, but that’s a problem for another day).  That being the case you just turn the ignition on, and push the button.  I have been putting off changing the ignition because I assumed you would then have to have an additional key for the new ignition (is that correct, or can you rekey the ignition?)

Lately the car has been running really strange.  If the ignition isn’t in just the right spot both the radio and clock go off, or the car will start to die.  This isn't just on start up, it can even happen going down the road.  I was thinking it was just time to suck it up and change the ignition, but in the last few days it has gotten worse.  Now if I put on my brights or occasionally if I use my blinker, the car tries to die.  Also if I pull on the steering wheel, say in a turn or getting out of the car, it tries to die as well.

So my question is, do you think a new ignition would solve the problem, or is it in the blinker switch or even worse?

As always ANY observations or suggestions are appreciated.

Lounge / Re: Home A/C questions - any techs around here?
I wish I could afford to do it right, but the tech is quoting me at least $7500 for the 3.5 ton system.

I'm going to see if I can figure out what the coil is rated for.  Should it be marked somewhere?

Lounge / Re: Home A/C questions - any techs around here?
Thanks guys.  I want to go up in size a little from a 2.5 ton to a 3.5 ton unit and I just want to make sure the evaporator coil can take it.

I’m nads deep in research tight now.  I’m trying to separate the truth from the salesmanship (read as “bullsheet”).

Lounge / Home A/C questions - any techs around here?
Well it looks like I’m in the market for a new home A/C system. The one on the house we bought was really undersized, but I hoped it would make it through the summer. Negative.

I wanted to see if anyone out there with a little more experience than me could help. The compressor blew on our system, but I really hate to throw good money after bad. Before the compressor went the house would only cool to around 85 in the heat of the day (central Texas) , and it ran almost constantly. If I just replace the compressor the house will still be too hot in the middle of the day. We have a bout 1800 sq. ft and it only has a 3 ton system. We are planning an expansion in the next couple of years that would bump that up to about 2400 sq. ft. so I think we are looking for at least a 4.5 to 5 ton system.

Of course I got the hard sell from the A/C tech – “your inside unit needs to be replaced at the same time”, “vents area all undersized for the new system”, “will have to install a new intake”, etc.

So what are your recent experiences? Can you replace the components piecemeal, or should it all be done at once? What size units do you run on your house? Any experiences particularly good or bad with the manufactures like Trane, Maytag, etc? What about some off the off brands like Goodman?

Any help would be appreciated.
